Been doing a lot of ocean fishing and trolling the past couple of days and have caught all of the non-legendary fish via trolling and have 3 more frigid fish to catch from regular fishing. Though I'm a little confused on where to find the Xiphactinus. Do I want to start trolling from Sepuluh in a westerly direction or be heading north/south along its western shore to find it?

What I would do is actually start trolling just south of Sepuluh Island, facing south. Your boat should begin to head south for a bit and start turning west. If it doesn't do that, try a different spot south of the island until you can get your boat to do so. Use the orange or white bait and you should be seeing a Xiphactinus pretty soon.

Check this video for help if you don' t understand my description.

The guy is south of Sepuluh Island at around 7:15 and catches the Xiphactinus around 10:35.

    Have the following left:

    Bothriolepis
    Cheiracanthus
    Xiphactinus
    Dunkleosteus
    Helicoprion
    Rolfosteus Canningensis

Instead of staying in one area until I catch each one for that area, I'll shoot for one for 3 in-game days at a time before moving on to attempt the next, otherwise I'll go crazy if they don't bite within that time.

Go for the xiphactinus if you're going crazy trying to find the legendaries as its much easier to find compared to the rest of the legendaries.

Wow, you weren't kidding. I set out on the route you outlined above and it was my 2nd catch. It was also in mostly-cloudy weather, though I'm still unsure on how much that affects spawn rate.

Got lucky and found the Rolfosteus Canningensis on the day after. May as well stay in the area and get the Dunkleosteus and Helicoprion before returning to shore.

I don't think it affects the spawn rate, as I've already caught 8 of them (for a S-rank) and never had trouble ever finding one when I needed to.

Stupid STUPID me! I let a Helocoprion go because I expected its shadow to be big like the other legendaries and thought it was a Halibut.

Well, despite making the same mistake 4 times, I finally caught that Helicoprion. For the Dunkleosteus I'll try the #5 bait for a few loops, then switch to a 1/1/2/2/5 setup.

#2 seems to have the best shot at catching the fish, especially because I heard many people including myself caught it with that bait. But then again, for the Great White, which I couldn't seem to catch with the #5 bait when everyone else was. #1 seemed to attract it much better than #5 for me. Again, good luck!
