This is why I love so much that XSEED and Falcom are on the Steam train now, screw retailers! Viva la digital distro. Can't *wait* to play FC on my PC and then getting to experience SC for the first time. It's getting harder and harder to not look at spoilers o_o

Sadly, there really isn't. Retailers stock games based on their own sales expectations. If they don't expect a game to sell well, they'll barely stock any copies of it. As a result, retailers can often shape the success of games. That's why preordering physical titles is so important: It lets retailers know exactly how many copies to order, and the more people there are who preorder, the more additional copies they'll stock.

That's also one of the reasons we started our own online store. Some of our titles can be very difficult to find... but whenever that happens, we've totally got you covered!

Working at an EB/Gamestop, we are told to push for preorders....I don't mind, like you say, it IS a good thing... but there are surprisingly many resilient people, even for more niche titles that could use the show of support. It's really disappointing, and I like how companies do try to include incentives for the eventual release (actually, the metal case AssCreed3 one worked really well, and that's was merely a pre-order goodie to give away months before the release). What I hate is that some people treat it like they're buying the game at full price, like they're "locked-in" and can't cancel it, but still, some people just won't do it.

We do like sort of "rubbing their faces" the day of, say there is a preorder bonus. One of those "hate to say I told ya so" when people can't get the goodies they want or they didn't do it sooner. A lot of goodies are lost on people who really want them because they're late to the punch or there just isn't enough press detailing it (CE Diablo 3's have been causing grief for us now).

I'll never understand it. I've preordered dozens of titles I haven't actually gone through with, oddly, some people are more hesitant to do so (if you can't afford the five dollars down to preorder, god help you being in a video game store >__> ).

Sorry, my personal rant. I guess it just gets to me when people are sometimes the result of their own problems.

Can they cancel it and get money back? I was always under the impression that you can only get store credit if you cancel.

Maybe if you get a dick-face employee. But no, we refund the money back the same way you pay it. More often, we ask if you just want to put it towards something else.

As someone who's worked at Gamestop before, I feel for you... The quota just started getting worse and worse, and it was tough with one of the places I worked in, wasn't a great part of town (aka not everyone had $15 to buy a membership card). With the whole preorder thing... many co workers figured that "it's the sense of commitment... Guys get scared of commitment, and that's why alot don't preorder". I honestly think that there is something to that, with people thinking you HAVE to buy it or something, and many would just say "eh, I'll take my chances the day it comes out". *shrug* Not that they even bothered asking questions about it... Of course, there's ALWAYS a ton of people that forget they ever preordered, and never even bother to come back to get their $5. Every few months my manager would call them up and remind them they had money down, also in hopes of rolling over to a new preorder, of course.

And yes, the world will never learn that limited really CAN mean LIMITED. If I had a nickel for everytime someone wanted to preorder a CE/LE months after it was announced (and months after it was already taken off the system), I'd be a VERY rich person...

Admittedly, I don't preorder a lot... but if I'm really, really excited for a game, I'll preorder the HELL out of it.

Got my Gravity Rush preorder ready and waiting to go for June! Game's fully paid off, too. All I gotta do is pop in and pick it up!

i hope that xseed localize trails 2 and 3 eventually, i bought trails 1 and will buy any trails title, hoping for localization of Zero and Ao no kiseki too plus Nayuta lol
