Yeah, I think we surely see SC. Whichever platform will be chosen, it's ok for me.. I just want to play it as soon as possible. But I don't think we will be able to play it before 2013...

At least this means I'll have time to play the Gagharv trilogy
Even if it's too early for SC, why aren't you talking a little bit about it, Tom? How is the progress? What is going on behind the scene?
I think with the release of SC people who havn't heard about FC will eventually buy both games and your fanbase will grow... it is hard to understand the real problem. Yes, FC didn't sell as expected but your fanbase will grow by releasing SC, won't it?
Maybe you should ask your fans and collect some money for SC like Tim Schafer did for his projectI'll have my credit card ready.
Meh, it just makes me sad.
And even if it's offtopic: I've downloaded the Ys vs TitS Demo and it is a really cool game, why aren't you localizing it? It could perfectly fill the gap between FC and SC?!
Edit: Hmmm maybe I can answer it myself: Are there any spoilers in this game? ^^
well indeed ys vs contain spoilers about SC and the 3rd but only if you understand japanese , if not you will say "but what the hell this character comes from" or "who is this support character " ?
L'union fait la force !
Plus the gameplay is all bout mashing attack buttons and dashing. It's only fun for some people. The rest probably just play it to enjoy the (somewhat) shallow story. So it probably wont rake in much of a profit.
The upside is a great collection of LoH and Ys wallpapers and themes available in the Mona shop.

They've already said they aren't interested in kickstarters since they don't want to take people's money, work on the project, and then have something come up and end up with a bunch of disappointed fans who "invested" in the project. Kickstarters are good for some things, but localization projects (especially risky ones) aren't one of those things.
And it would be nice to see Ys vs Trails localized, but SC would have to come first.
Honestly though, it's easy to play and figure out if you've played Ys Seven, and it's not very text/story heavy. I have the Japanese version and played it fine with no knowledge of the language. Though it would have been nice to know about the upgrades and stuff BEFORE trying to beat the Arcade mode. Beating it with a vanilla character without any accessories or upgrades was pretty tough.(Also, Geis is broken. Water glitch = instant win against the AI)
I'm not talking about it because (A) I really can't, for various reasons, and (B) there's not a lot to talk about. The amount of work that's been done amounts to "a crap-ton," and the amount of work that still needs to be done also amounts to "a crap-ton." And it'll probably be that way for a long time. (:Even if it's too early for SC, why aren't you talking a little bit about it, Tom? How is the progress? What is going on behind the scene?
The problem isn't money, it's time and release format. The game's localization is simply going to take a long time, no matter what. Throwing more money at it isn't going to make it go any quicker UNLESS we want to add more translators, which is just going to result in a more uneven and less high-quality translation. And the other big obstacle to overcome is release format. At this point in time, releasing a 2-UMD game is unrealistic. Unless Falcom can get the game working on PSN, I don't see how we'll be able to release it on PSP at all and not have it die horribly in the marketplace -- which means we need to explore other options.I think with the release of SC people who havn't heard about FC will eventually buy both games and your fanbase will grow... it is hard to understand the real problem. Which we are, don't worry. We just can't talk about them!

Hehe, sorry. I'm sure you would share more info if you could. I've just had the feeling it's time to ask again
"A long time" doesn't sound good but it answers one of my questions.
Thanks, Tom.
Crap-ton = crap-ton logically means you're halfway there, too bad a crap-ton isn't measurable and that equation doesn't work.(Go away Kotaku, that's not a story).
But as long as you keep chipping away at it the PC will always be there, even if no other opportunities present themselves.
You probably can't answer this localization related question either, but do the translators communicate with one another about things for consistency early on to make the editing easier?
Or do you end up with one character with three names due to slightly different localization ideas, then have to fix it?

I've finished Trails in the Sky last month and I've finally got in terms with waiting patiently for Second Chapter. As much as the cliffhanger was huge, there's not a lot we can do right now.
