    Ragnarok DS

Was Ragnarok DS awful? I heard it was awful. Was it actually good?

Ragnarok MMORPG is nice. The DS game... I'd rather not comment on it.

Granted, I'm not that far in the DS game, but I'm having fun so far! I was hooked on the MMORPG for a while though. Haha.

Having never played the MMORPG before, I actually had a good time with our Ragnarok DS release customizing all the job classes. Story wasn't as deep as some of our other releases, but the gameplay was pretty addicting.

i was addicted to the MMORPG for over 3 years, the DS game is a decent title taking in mind the portable capabilities, but yeah story could have been deeper.

The DS game is all right if you liked the MMO. I played the latter for a few years, so I enjoyed the DS offering as well. While some of the elements are a bit off, the gameplay is nice, and ultimately that's what I get games for.

To me, the goal of RDS wasn't to try and be EXACTLY like the MMO (impossible, given the hardware limitations and fact that you don't actually play the main quest with others). It's more of an extended "gaiden" type of game that captures the look of the original while distilling the gameplay into a more single-player friendly experience.

If you go in expecting it to be on the same par as the online game, yes, you'll absolutely be disappointed. On the other hand, if you want a dungeon crawler that's similar to a few classic games in the genre, it's pretty good (and funny where it needs to be), looks nice and is quite lengthy once you let it get its hooks into you. I happen to like dungeon crawlers a lot, so I was pleasantly surprised at the overall package.

Although, I actually wish it was on the PSP just to do the artwork more justice in a higher resolution (and perhaps add a few more online players for co-op play). On the DS, the camera zoom function is a bit useless, as all it does is make enemies harder to see off screen (not a good thing during boss battles) and navigation trickier. I ended up only using it in non-combat areas and zooming all the way out everywhere else.

I've been a huge fan of Ragnarok Online Since about 2003, and RBO since 2006.
That being said, I played the Japanese version of RODS and liked it enough to get the English version.

While not the best RPG, I definitely enjoyed playing it (especially co-op with my brother).
My only real complaint about the game is the same I had with Disgaea DS; the sound quality of the music (if only because both RO and Disgaea: HoD had amazing soundtracks).

Me too, but then I prefer my PSP in virtually every scenario (on a technical level, at least). I won't say I'm a stickler for presentation (since the PSP and DS are my favorite systems this generation, I think that goes without saying), but it never hurts.

Ever drop a fat model PSP on your toe? It hurts, man... it hurts!

    Point taken, though...
