I'll believe Morishige could be at fault, but also Ayumi.
She was the one explaining to everyone what to do and say and she said the phrase once to everyone. That could have counted as 1.
And they could have thought in their head that phrase too, at the time she said it, and so it counted as 1. So in the end maybe they all said it too many times without knowing it. But yeah, she was the one holding the charm in the first place, so just maybe.
Faulty charm in every way, I doubt anyone ever got it right.

That's why most people call him by his surname, only Mayu can get away with calling him "Shig".
I don't remember that part of his profile. I guess he doesn't like having the same name as a cute stuffed animal that says "Uryu!"

I think that it was said that the instructions for the charm were wrong so maybe they did it like Ayumi said they should but because it was wrong anyway they got cursed.
