This game was fully localized in English and pretty much done by the time we got our hands on it, so we were more helping SNK bring it to market than being involved with it from start to finish like all our other titles. It's always tough transitioning a series from 2D to 3D, but being a huge Samurai Shodown I and II fan from way back in the day, I still got some satisfaction seeing how my favorite characters were portrayed in 3D (Jubei is still one bad motherBACONBACONBACONBACONer).

Honestly, I think the price point was a dealbreaker. It is, at best, a rather mediocre 3D fighter. If it had been sold at $20-30 from the outset, rather than $50, there would likely have been far more sales... and not just from people like me (SNK/SNKP loyalists).

In case you actually do get it someday, don't expect it to be something you'd wanna play nonstop.
It just feels like a game for coming home from a long of work and beating something up without getting into it much.
You may as well try it out if any else you really want is on that system.

I know this is a very old post, but I decided to post in it anyways. I was able to get the game for $14.99 so I picked it up and gave it a shot since I am a huge Samurai Shodown fan. It is definitely the worst in the series, but picking it up for so low a price made it a worthy purchase. I would like to see what they can do if they made another Samurai Shodown like this. Hopefully there second game would be much better since they would be more comfortable making it since they would've already made one before.

You know this is their(SNK/SNKP) fourth attempt(or game) of a 3D version of Samurai Shodown.
