Well, do you want spoilers about it then? I could tell you *_*.. (along with some of us).

You'll have to play this game first to get to know Book of Shadows. (Or else it's somehow like reading the solution to a problem without knowing what the problem is/was).

Simply to put it in a way, Book of Shadows is like the "answer" arc, in which Corpse Party is the "question" arc (if you've known the When They Cry Series - Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, which is made into an animation both the question and answer arc, and the other title Umineko no Naku Koro ni).

Also, it fills the gaps and mysteries that Blood Covered has made, along with the explanations... (although it's not ALL of them that are answered, just most of them).

Well Ch 1-7 are really somewhat similiar to "explanations" too (not just "answers") to the Blood Covered, while well.. the rest is...

not sure it's spoilers, but it could be.. so well I'll make it white
after you've played Ch1-7, the 8th Ch will be unlock under some condition (not yet known, but has something to do with wrong ends) which is the new "story" added in the series which makes you wanna play the next one *-*!! (Simplier.. erm I mean it doesnt explain about the Blood Covered game anymore like ch1-7, it is the unique new scene about "Book of Shadows")

p.s. wow, i'm getting more rivals(???) in here.. there are more people with Ayumi and Naho's avartars now :B *smirks*..

I think Zephuros pretty much has you covered, but yeah, think of Book of Shadows like a "simultaneous sequel." Parts of it take place before the original Corpse Party, and parts take place after, but most takes place DURING the original game -- except things unfold a little differently, scenes that were skimmed over in the first game are fully played out, and there's a much greater focus on side-characters and characters who got less "screen time" during the original.

The gameplay is also completely different. Corpse Party (BloodCovered) plays like an RPG without battles: you walk around and explore the school directly, all done in classic 16-bit-style 2D. Book of Shadows, on the other hand, is all first-person view, and plays out like a visual novel mixed with a point-and-click adventure. There's a LOT more reading, and exploration is much simpler -- to go to a room, you basically just click on it, then watch as your character automatically saunters over there in first-person 3D (screen-by-screen, though, so it's all drawn 2D art rather than actual 3D modeling)... and then you get an actual cursor to move around the screen, and can click on things to examine them.

In short: Book of Shadows is a pretty cool sequel. Not as fun to play as the original IMHO, but just as engaging due to its excellent writing and really intriguing story that weaves in and out of the first game's plotline quite masterfully.

Oh RIGHT!! I totally forgot about the systems @_@"" (I was too focused on difference of stories).

And of course not only more focuses on the side-characters, there are two new original characters added as well @___@!!!

A little different question, but what about the original game? There's something on the website and I've found a couple of Youtube videos for the original game, Blood Covered, and the PSP port, but since a lot of the cast wasn't in the original 1990s game, I'm assuming the story was very different. Anyone come across it or have more info? Now I'm kinda curious...

The original game doesn't have almost all the characters you're familiar with. If they didn't get to the proper ending alive, they weren't on the original game.

Yeah also the of the 4 ghosts only Sachiko was there since the beggining from what I have heard. There were spirits but didn't have name. The originals were pretty much Satoshi, Naomi, Yuka, Ayumi, and Yoshiki. All the other characters were mentioned in passing like for an example Seiko. She was mentioned by Naomi with her conversations with Satoshi but this information is mostly from my cousin so Im not sure if everything I said is correct. But everyone who dies in the game is a new character to the game. I think I can also mention how the other side characters came into Corpse Party in more details if you want but like I said this is information Im not 100 percent certain of what I might say is true.

Hope will never die because in our times of despair, hope is the warmth that we all have that we can share. No matter how much life seems to hurt, stand up and never give up. Fight it and come back VICTORIOUS!!!

Whenever our souls feel in pain. We intertwine and make a miracle. The miracle that is our love.

LOL that kind of makes the fact that none of the newly added characters
were remembered after their deaths
pretty ironic.

Did Team GrisGris still do the majority of the work on the two updates? I know they said the fangames influenced a lot that they added.
