Did Vic call XSEED's localization bad or something there? Or did I misunderstand?

Hey, guys. The translation for Lunar:SSH was probably at least 80-90% WD's from Silver Star Story Complete (I believe). The right to the translation belonged to GameArts, so all we did was translate the new opening scene, fix a few bugs, shake out some Bill Clinton jokes and redo the opening song (which Jenny Stigile did! ^_^) + VO. So, most of what people got was the old, charming script from childhood. Which is why it was weird that some people said they didn't care for our 'new' translation of the game, as it wasn't new at all...
See: http://www.siliconera.com/2010/03/11...he-xseed-half/
Anyway, it was definitely a project with a bit more, er, excitement, than others, but Lunar fans were/are really supportive and it was fun to work on, especially when we did the song with Jenny (That girl has some serious chops!).
Catapultam habeo. Nisi pecuniam omnem mihi dabis, ad caput tuum saxum immane mittam.
Oh, I see! So what I read somewhere before was true.
Thanks for clearing it up!![]()
I was just curious, that's all.
I really hated portions of Ireland's translation, the humour was just really forced and it came across as lame.
I think the "new translation" people refer to is the songs, or at least that's what I'm assuming, I've never seen anyone criticizing anything other than that personally.
Edit: Interesting to know that WD didn't own the script for SSSC though, I had no idea.

I just compared both openings, and I think people are being really silly.
They just changed the lyrics is all. The melody is still the same, the singer's voice is still the same.
And I even read a comment saying they wouldn't buy the game because it was ruined and had very poor localization. Stupid beyond belief, as most of it is like the original.
I think it's because WD doesn't work anymore, so GameArts owns the original translation that way? :s
I couldn't even remember the lyrics from the PSX version, so I didn't mind.
