OHHH! I see now! Sorry I've just never heard it referred to as ATB before! Yeah, I've been wanting to buy it for a while, but...I tend to like going into games completely blind, since theres rarely a game I'll play that I'll openly dislike. Just I've learned that I'm bad at those ones, and it looked like one. So I think I'll be buying this soon, thanks a lot
Usually, it stands for "Active Time Battle", and is originally an FF term. Remember back in the old days when you could set your battle speed at "Active" and "Wait"? Well, ATB is pretty much what happens when "Active" is switched to "on" and enemies can still hit you while you're selecting items or spells. But I'd reckon most people probably used "Wait", like I did, and the TiTS system works like ATB on "Wait". ........It's turn-based, in layman's terms. It's vaguely tactical in feel, but should be easy enough to understand when you actually play it. I'm really bad at SRPGs, too, so I feel for you. I can proudly say that the only one I've actually finished was Final Fantasy Tactics Advance! Durrhurrhurr.
ohh! okay so its something unique! I'm cool with that. And yeah I was thinking FFT. I sucked at FFT. I most certainly did. and does ATB stand for automatic turn based or something?
It isn't a tactical game. While there is a tactical appearance to the battle system, and you can manipulate turn order to an extent through your actions, I would consider it entirely tactical in the strictest sense. I can't think of a good example for it, however. But it isn't at all like Final Fantasy Tactics, or Disgaea, at least. It's a very bizarre system, but in a way, it's a wee bit closer to ATB than it looks!
this is going to sound like a stupid question..but is trails in the sky like, a tactical game? It kind of looked like it from the screens and I'm really bad at those.
there we go! o_o
Add a random fact about yourself in your "About Me", yes?
that actually sounds quite delicious! O_O okay, I would bite those too. so I will generically ask what specific rpgs and anime you like : D
Only your toooooes. And that's AFTER they're severed. And deep-fried. Since they don't appear to be severed OR deep-fried, I won't bite. Honest!
do you really bite :O
