The most recent anime I purchased was Black Cat The Complete Series Boxset for $25 and Naruto Shippuden Boxset 5. If PSN downloads count, I also bought Naruto Shppuden Episode 96 ($1.99) and Trigun: Badlands Rumble ($9.99) (One thing to note is that PSN downloads have no tax, except maybe if you live in the state where the Sony USA resides).

Right now I'm playing the waiting game for Puella Magi Madoka Magica and a Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood full-series boxset (they're bound to do it eventually and I don't feel like buying each of the 5 sets separately :P )

Back in May, I bought the Baccano! Blu-ray Boxset. That was the latest purchase. Now I'm waiting for the Madoka Blu-rays to come out in NA. (Hopefully, aniplex doesn't go full retard and make it DVD only)
If Aniplex is releasing it themselves, they will most likely do everything that Japan gets as imports in America with subs.

I haven't seen anything about it going to get a dub. Do you know the source that says it will be dubbed. A lot of the series that aired last year and this year that either Aniplex or Bandai is releasing is going to be released only in Japanese with english subtitles.

My most recent purchase was Neon Genesis Evangelion (the complete series with the director's cut episodes, whichever set that was), but that was like two years ago.

Much more recently, I will be picking up the new release of the complete series of FLCL. :3 I saw that the complete series of Chobits is also on DVD now (or again), but I do not think that I have the money. I do not have the money, currently, to collect both games AND anime right now. X3

Oh, but while it is on mind, I hope that End of Evangelion gets a re-release, since people tell me that it is almost required to finish the series. :/

Been wanting to check out a Mecha Anime for awhile now since I'm a huge Super Robot Wars fan but have never seen a Mecha Anime. Might as well start with Gundam.
Queen's Blade is well Queen's Blade. Decent anime that people won't take seriously because of the nudity.

It won't be until closer to release, at least, in the USA. It isn't being released on DVD until next year now, as far as I know.

It would be nice, but I do think this is one LE worth the price tag, especially at the RightStuf price - Bluray/DVD combo, soundtrack CDs, the book with the character designs and manga, postcards... Usually I wait until I can get a complete boxset but I'm totally breaking that rule for this. 8D

I'm seriously considering picking up the Spirit Gun Blu-Ray bundle off of Right Stuf. 64.99 for all four seasons of Yu Yu Hakusho on Blu-ray which is a pretty awesome deal. I'm kinda on the fence though because I didn't really care for the latter half of the series as much as I loved the first two seasons. All in all an awesome series though. Grrr conflict.

If it was ordered from Japan, it was 3200 Yen plus shipping and tax, which is about $40 + shipping and tax. If ordered from Rightstuf in the USA, it was $52 + shipping and tax.

I wound up going with AmiAmi because they had it 30% off at 2,370 Yen (~$30.50), but I won't know the exact shipping charge until they bill me in January.

My new Scrapped Princess obsession sent me looking for the boxset and while I haven't found it yet at a price I'm willing to pay, I did find the volume 1 limited edition with the Pacifica figure (http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/catalogmgr/NV-KH=Ut16nZz=cVxC/browse/item/65125/4/0/-2334) for $8.99 and I jumped on it, though it probably won't get here until I'm gone for Thanksgiving. :P

So I accidentally bought an anime. If that makes any sense. Had it in my cart on Amazon and forgot about it. Went in and jumped on a lightning deal and let it sit for a while, and decided to bite at the last minute. So I just rushed my way through checkout and as I hit the button to order I realized something else was in my cart.

I just got Voltron Collection 1, Comic Party complete Season 1 boxset, and a collection of all 3 Sailor Moon movies. This cost a total of $35.89 after tax. I only actually had to pay for Comic Party and the Sailor Moon movie collection which were $14.85 and $18.85 respectively, since it was a buy 2 get one free sale at a local game/anime/manga/merchandise shop in my area only. Voltron would have been $9.85. In a couple weeks, I get more money and I plan on getting Dragon Ball Z Boxset Seasons 7-9 with the deal, since they are $14.85 each, with one knocked off and .Hack//Sign Volume 1 for $4.85, separately afterwards, since it will last through December, if it is like last year. They also have a buy 2 get one free PS2 game sale, which I may also look into.

Well, it seems that the Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal Blu-ray is going to be added to my collection in 2 weeks!

I bought a game for a friend, seeing how Christmas is coming up, and he told me he felt bad to accept, so purchased a gift for me too. He looked around rightstuf to find decent blu-ray boxsets and whatnot, and the only thing he liked was T&B. Now I feel bad, because T&B was more expensive, haha.

The Kenshin Trust and Betrayal OVA on blu from Rightstuff... There's only around 50 LEFT, and after that, you definately won't find it again at the "low" price of $65... Yeah it's high, but it's a show I love and everyone is saying that it looks absolutely beautiful on blu! *sigh* I disslike Aniplex USA (not as bad as regular Aniplex) but I've been thinking about buying this for a whole week! I finally caved in and did it...

That IS the US version... Aniplex is the Japanese division but since this was Aniplex USA that did it... Yeah, they have the rights to the Kenshin OVAs and Movies from ol' ADV now. I'm not actually sure if they WILL rerelease it again is the thing... You see why I was contemplating for so long about it? >_> Trust me, it's ALOT of money and I really didn't want to, but I figured if it's the only release of it, I really didn't want to miss out... And $65 IS the cheapest for it (I've seen it higher on other sites) not to mention, as a true LE, it never got discounted on Rightstuf, since it already was... by $17...

Technically, when I bought both disks on DVD back in the day, I'm pretty sure I paid around $30 for each of them :/ It's like going back into the past really...

It's also that. Yeah, the whole Aniplex imports/Aniplex USA releases confused me for a while. In the case of Kenshin, it's also dual audio, so contains the dub as well. I'm pretty sure that the ONLY Aniplex (of Japan) releases that were in import style were Garden of Sinners and Fate/Zero. Everything else (Oreimo, Madoka, etc) are done by Aniplex USA.

Good question... the case itself only has Japanese on it, with "Aniplex" being the only english on it. It also comes with a collectible booklet that is all in Japanese, with an english translation booklet... It's a hard call! I'm going to assume that there would be english navigations in the menu though, especially being the USA release...

If you are going to contemplate on the release though, there is currently 50 left on Rightstuf (http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/catalogmgr/uWe9ZyU6lFnQHbNqZB/browse/item/92218/4/0/0)... Trust me, I thought about it for a good week, and with everyone on another forum saying "do it it's great! You don't want to regret it and pay markup!" AND after the new trailer I watched today for the live-action Kenshin movie, were the things that made me pull the trigger (and cause a HUGE hole in my wallet... That is to say, made the hole that was already there, $65 bigger >_>)

Uhm, no, it has more English than that! It's got the title of the OVAs on the back as well as the side of the digipack.

I am not even a big Kenshin fan, but I did love Trust & Betrayal! I planned on getting it whenever the prices went down a little bit, but I got it as a Christmas gift from a good friend instead.

The OVAs themselves looks superb on Blu-ray. I normally don't really see much difference on "remasters", and think it's mostly buzzwords, and marketing-speak, but this one was pretty noticeable in quality. Episode 1, 2, and 3 were stunning in quality. The detail from the 90s anime, redone in HD? MY EYES. It was really great to see it in HD.

Not everything is great though. I was slightly disappointed that a lot of the scenes on episode 4 was not remastered, but upscaled instead. It's apparently because some of these original scenes were not available for remastering (Probably completely lost) so we got some upscaled footage, etc instead. Have no fear though, the most important scenes were still redone.

The third disc got loose after a probable impact that broke the bottom of the box. The disc was dancing all the way here so it is ''Scratched to oblivion'' as I will once again tell Amazon...

Ugh, that sucks :( I got my copy from a local used store. I think it was $12 for it, and fortunately for this store, the disks always look great!

Made an Amazon order: I got the .hack//Quantum (FINALLY!) for only $14!! Lowest I've seen it! Also picked up a new sealed copy (with slip cover, of course) of Street Fighter Generations. That completes my Street Fighter anime collection.

*Bump* Picked up Supernatural the anime from Best Buy today on blu :) It's on sale for $18.99 plus I had a $5 BB coupon! All of the actual show seasons were on sale too, but I think I'll wait for a complete collection before I pick it up.

Good deal! I haven't seen the anime but that's probably a good idea for the actual show, especially since we're getting season 8 now, lol.

Ok, so first there was the singles, and then there was the thinpack (http://www.amazon.com/Elfen-Lied/dp/1413913210/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1337386549&sr=8-2) (which I think looks the best) then there was this (http://www.boxanime.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/265x/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/D/E/DELF100.jpg) collection, and then yours, similar to that last one but with different packaging. Guess I was right, it was the 4th release.

Anime often gets these re-re-re-re-relases to keep cycling, to keep selling. A good thing, so good series won't go OOP and get hard to find/expensive.

Tsubasa... Easy chronological order for that one :) Watch S1 first. The movie, can honestly be anywhere in between, as it's a standalone (and check out the xxxHOLiC movie as well, as its a tie into the Tsubasa movie. They were released in theatres together, afterall. Plus it's a great series, if you've never seen it before!) From there it's S2, and then the OVAs. Since the tv show didn't do to well, they couldn't animate the whole thing, but released the more important OVA parts of the story... The ending however, was never animated :/ I really need to buy through the manga sometime, but it's just so long^^ I only have the first 2 volumes.

The movie itself is pretty good. The first set of OVAs are amazing!! The Tokyo Revalation ones. You really wish that you could see more of the show animated, but yeah...

You know about Nausicaa too, right? That one came out... Some time last year. Kiki will probably be the next American blu release, since a blu did come out in Japan for it. Not sure what else though. And I wonder what'll happen with the Princess Mononoke license :/ I REALLY want it on blu (with better cover art...) so they better figure it out by then!

Thinpacks are nice because of the seperate art for every thin case, but the Classic line is well done too. I have the series Noir from it, and it has a slipcover, and inner cover image, with ALL disks in one case.

Feels like yesterday, companies didn't know how to fit so many disks efficiently into a single case, and created bricks just for THREE disks :P Seriously, I'm surprised it took so long to invent the better ones >_>

Indeed it is ^_^ It has been licensed in Australia by Siren Visual, so I imported from them. That's part 1 and part 2 should be coming out this month.

Hmmm... I have a friend who loved the first season of Higurashi, but only watches dubbed anime (yeah, I know!). This wouldn't happen to be dubbed, would it?

I've got an awful memory, but I'm pretty sure the only mention of cannibalism is a bit of backstory about the fate of one of the corpses you find or something like that. No one actually eats anyone in the events that take place in the game.

Bandai sale at Rightstuf, so (finally) picked up the last volume to Tales of the Abyss. After this, NO MORE SINGLE VOLUMES FOR ME!! Bandai was pretty much the last company to still be doing this. Either way, I can finally start watching this soon :) I hear it's not bad, but alot of people said it's "too close" to the game, which makes me laugh because people complain when anime adaptations are NOTHING like the game/manga >_>

FINALLY!! Perseverance wins^^ Over a year ago, I bought Night Warriors: Darkstalker's Revenge Omega, which is part 2 of the OVA series. It was the more expensive at the time and when it dropped down a bit, I got it. The first part, Alpha, was always low, but then budget happened and I held off. The 'cheap' Alpha that soared in price on Amazon and eBay for whatever reason, being way out of my price range! Now, it finally came down to the price it was before! I contacted the seller and made sure it came with everything (always best to do!) and got it^^ I'm pretty happy with my purchase!

Abyss got fully released :) Only Vol 1 and 2 are limited, because they both have the Asch the Bloody manga in it (only 2 volumes of it, so the whole thing!) The LEs also have enough room to put all 4 singles inside :) Since Bandai Ent. shut down, it might be a good idea to pick them up when you can! No one knows when they will stop printing copies (yeah, even though they JUST pretty much came out!) I've actually heard people complain about the anime because it's TOO close to the game :p I don't see it as a bad thing! It's going to me my next anime I start too, with my copy of vol. 4 in the mail right now :)

Yeah, Bandai was notorious for still releasing single volumes instead of boxsets. Well, some came later on. .hack//Roots never got one, so I had to get those separately too. For me, I paid about $23 for each LE, and then $18 for each single... So yeah, around $80 for a DVD series... Oh, and those prices were all when they went on sale too^^

Not subbed, no. Just dubbed VHSs and DVDs.

Hmm.....Please be real? I've always wanted the first season of Digimon released. None of the others seemed as good to me.

Tamers is REALLY good if you haven't checked it out yet. But yeah I do hope this is real. The company releasing the dub (which is the same company in question releasing the sub) already said they had "no plans" on releasing a sub recently. So a lot of it is up in the air right now with speculations. It could possibly have been a mistake, but I am sooooooo hoping it's a leak that ends up being real!! I want to buy all the seasons (even the ones I don't like much) so I can finally replace my subs! ....well, depending if the sub does exist and if the subs are as bad as the rush job on Hulu, I might still hang onto those too >_>

EDIT: Oh, and bad news about Digimon. Looks like it probably was a typo on Amazon. Rightstuf added the same smaller sets, but if listing them as dub-only :( So looks like they are making cheaper sets of Season 1.... v_v *sigh* Maybe one day.... I will say though, the fact that Digimon has 100% been subbed makes me VERY happy, and is one of my most appreciated subs!

Never used that site, but good to know they are reputable! It's backordered, so nooooo problem, as long as I get them at that price :) ....as long as it's not in October. I already own both seasons, the second season was actually the first anime I ever bought :), but I'm really considering getting this anyway. I preordered the second season and got the box that it came with but I decided to buy the Blu-ray of the second season, since it was a lot cheaper then the DVD version, so it doesn't look quite right in the box, one case being DVD sized and the other being Blu-ray sized. So I'm considering buying this one just so I have box set that matches.

That shouldn't be hard, unless you mean the limited editions. Due to Bandai's... exit from the market, the other manga and LEs for 3 and 4 were all cancelled, and never released.

As for recent purchases, almost all of it has been preordering. The last things to come in have been the No. 6 DVD collection and the later Pico OVAs. The number in preorder (and reserved for my order to ship) is in the double digits, too. I need to stop buying...

In Japanese it's "Tales of the Abyss: Tsuioku no Jade Manga" in english it's either "Tale of the Abyss: Jade in My Memories" or "Tale of the Abyss: Reminiscences of Jade". If that helps for finding the French volumes. I wish manga was as popular here as it was in European countries like France :p Then we'd get more things localized!

Oh, also do you ever use myanimelist.net? Not only does it keep you organized with what anime you're watching/manga you're reading, but the search engine is GREAT for finding stuff. Like if you want to find all the OVAs or whatever for a show to see EVERYTHING :p It's like My Backloggery, but better because the search engine has info on A LOT of stuff :)

DVDPlanet/DeepDiscount are just a crappy company. HUGE deals, but be lucky if you get your item. Everyone was surprised that the Death Notes were shipped in LESS than a month. On CAG, there was the topic of people who got Last Story off there for $30. I think they said they finally got their's like almost 2 months after release >_>

So, bit of a downer pickup. I grabbed Cowboy Bebop on blu yesterday. It was sitting a dump bin at Best Buy for only $8 so I figured "sure, I'll upgrade my DVD (that cost $5 anyways)". Take it home, and find out that the blu has NO special features, while the DVD, listed as a 'special edition' has several features, including a 'making of', which is my most wanted special feature (that and for anime to include OVAs, specials, shorts, etc). Also when I looked it up, apparently the transfer is actually WORSE than the Japanese one. Oh, Sony... You like picking up some big named movies, but you don't treat them very well :(
Bottom line: I returned it today :/

This was the last out of print LE by NISA that I wanted so I'm really happy to get this since I want all my NISA releases to be LEs if possible. :)

The hassle, if anyone is interested, has quite a nice ending actually. About a week and a half after ordering this I got an email from Amazon saying that I should contact the seller because it still hadn't shipped yet. So I did and was less then hopeful about getting a good response but was presently surprised when I got a really nice and apologetic reply. This was her first time selling on Amazon and the email stating that it had been sold apparently went to spam so she didn't see it. She was really sorry about it and said she would ship it out as soon as possible. Skip to Monday and it ships out and gets here today. And in an even bigger surprise after opening the package I find this sitting inside on top of the LE...

Yeah I've noticed they reuse a lot of scenes as well, Hopefully the animation is better when i get around to Zeta. I don't know if i can stomach another 40+ episodes with animation like this.

Yeah the NISA boxes keep getting better and better IMO. My favorite from my collection has to be the Kimi ni Todoke series. Those box's are really nice, they have like the perfect colors for that series and, for me at least, make me remember all the fond memories in that series, especially vol. 2.

Since I would assume that all the NISA releases are the same I know what your talking about. I've had a problem trying to describe it in the past as well but whatever it is more ppl need to know about it because it's great for a box set. Tough yet it doesn't seem all that expensive. :)

I think the Stein's gate part 1 price is reasonable. many other new series run around the $40 mark for 12 episodes. older stuff you generally get twice as many episodes for that much but that's older stuff so it should be expected to cost less

I picked up the old movie remaster for Toward the Terra.

Yeah, so good that I'm ready to watch the original 1980.... The design will not be THAT hard to see, since the 2007 anime adaptation was pretty much respecting the ol design (at least for Blue for thwat I saw of the trailer)

First off wow a 6 is BAD. Someone has a skewed rating system. :p

Nah I'm just kidding mine is probably just as bad if I actually put numbers to it. But a sentence that I use to describe Kimi ni Todoke is that "it is frustrating in the best possible way." Basically imagine that you have two friends that you can tell really like each other but have either yet to figure out that the other one likes them, if that makes since. I can understand how some people might not like this show though. It doesn't move fast at all and isn't really action or drama heavy so I can see that turning some people off. Personally, I just really liked the characters and story, mainly because I just really like stories like it. For example my second favorite anime, which doesn't mean a whole lot since it's so close to #1 it's practically interchangeable, is Toradora also a romantic slice of life anime. And as another example my favorite movie since I was little was The Lion King and my favorite part in it was always the scene with Elton John's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight". So yeah basically it just ended up being right up my alley. I would recommend it to anyone that likes has a little patience and thinks that they would enjoy a story like that.

If I were to give a good description of how I feel about it, it's a pretty good high school romance that's also a slice of life, that somehow manages to make you smile from the bottom of your heart. Doesn't help that it feels like a real high school scene, with actual high school problems. Frankly, it kinda moves slow at times, but it does an impressive job making your emotions go haywire. But to be honest, buy the first volume of its manga and see if that grabs you. The anime keeps pretty close to how the manga goes, so if you like the manga, you'll like the anime.

I started looking into the Cowboy Bebop and Wolf's Rain soundtrack CDs, if those count. Though... CB has, like, five different CDs, all of them like 20/30 bucks. And the one Wolf's Rain CD i am missing, CD2, is going for like 50-60 dollars on Amazon! Are all anime OSTs so expensive? O_O

Tokyo Magnitude was pretty good. Leaves you with a bit of a surprise at the end. Made me think back on the episodes and go "ohhhh no way!!" After the earthquake last year, some people suggested for this to get localized, with a portion going towards the victims. Too bad never happened, and wouldve been a good idea.
