I just sat down today to listen to some of the wonderful soundtrack CDs included in your various Limited Edition releases and I had to just say thank you because not only has the music selected been perfect, but the CDs are chock full of tracks!

I've been saddened by the quantity of songs on many of ATLUS' more recent CDs, but yours never seem to disappoint, so thanks!

Hey XSEED, I'll take this chance and ask: can the company sell the games' soundtracks digitally, like through iTunes?

Yes, I agree. The soundtracks you pack are great. Definitely better than no jewel case and less than 10 tracks.

However, in Atlus' defense, they have put out a lot more quality games (at least on the DS; the PSP seems to be more even). Probably more than XSEED, NISA, and Aksys combined. I mean, I've been checking out the DS catalog recently, but other than Solatorobo, Rhapsody, and 999, I can't seem to find any other games from them that I'm interested in (I already have Disgaea for the PSP). Atlus, on the other hand, has Etrian Odyssey, Radiant Historia, Devil Survivor, Luminous Arc, etc.

But maybe there's no correlation between cheap CDs and more games, which would make what I wrote above moot, but just saying if there was, I (and I'm confident everyone) would prefer more games.

To answer Shizuka's question, though we haven't looked into the idea of releasing soundtracks on iTunes recently, that's usually something that the original Japanese IP holder wants to save for themselves. For Fragile Dreams we were able to include a sampler soundtrack CD as a special pre-order bonus, but Namco Bandai Games released the full soundtrack on iTunes themselves.

I really hope that they release their songs on iTunes, if not, I wonder if XSEED could ask that when you guys negotiate the licenses.

What about releasing them on PSN? There's been at least a dozen released on the north american one. Haven't seen any on the japanese store though. In any case the soundtracks are nice. While I may whine they aren't the -full- OSTs, they're well above sampler discs. Ugh... the MGS4 "soundtrack" CD only came with 16 tracks and Fate/Extra is at 11 (why Aksys why?!). I prefer music over artbooks so your "notch above the rests" releases please me. :)

Releasing them on PSN might be nice as well, I've heard Ghostlight is trying to do that in Europe:

Just chiming in to confirm this. The release of the Recettear and Chantelise soundtracks on iTunes was handled by EGS and Team m-box directly; we had nothing to do with it and don't see any of that money when they get purchased. Generally, the game loc companies aren't the right dudes to pester; you want to talk to the developers directly about soundtrack releases.

If only I knew japanese to bother Falcom! I bet we'll see in the near future some fancy OST with songs from the Legend of Heroes series.

There's always... Google Translate ;)

I'd rather bother my brother on writing it instead of using Google Translate, although he always mocks me by saying I'm always asking and begging for things at gaming company's forums.

Well, there's nothing wrong with asking and begging... is there?

On the subject of soundtracks could we get some scans posted of the covers? My searchfu is weak and I can't find the XSeed covers for Oath or Solatorobo. I imported them to my PS3 and want to be rid of the generic soundtrack folder icon asap!

Also was the Solatorobo CD a straight rip of the japanese one? Because I have to rename basically every track since they're not in english lol.

But... you can choose who you'll start asking and begging ~
