The dawning of a new age is upon us...

The Official XSEED Online Store!

Dear Rabid Fans,

XSEED would like to welcome lovers of all things niche and avid collectors of Japanese gaming delights to the official XSEED Online Store (http://xseedgames.com/store.php)! After many fan mails, twitter pleas, and colorful death threats we have finally crafted that special place where you may purchase past and present titles published under our jaunty red banner. Our easy to navigate site includes games for the PSP, Wii, DS, XBOX 360 and even some select items from some of our more extravagant limited editions.

Popular titles such as The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky (http://www.trailsinthesky.com/) (Limited and Standard editions), Lunar: Silver Star Harmony (http://www.lunarsilverstarharmony.com/), Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon (http://www.fragiledreamswii.com/) and Little King's Story (http://www.littlekingsstory.com//index.html) are in stock, as well as plenty of our unpopular fare that by default have reached "cult" status. Best of all - T-shirts and the previously hard to find Wii favorite: Rune Factory: Frontier (http://www.runefactoryfrontier.com/) are also a go! All prices on the XSEED Online Store (http://xseedgames.com/store.php) include shipping, but there is a minimum $20 per order requirement before we can facilitate our dark exchange (US only*).

We at XSEED hope that this sacrificial offering will aid you in your quest for games, and we want you to know that if your life has felt incomplete without a squeezable Onii toy, we're here for you now.

HAPPY UNBIRTHDAY, gamers!

-XSEED Games

*Sorry! ;_; We're just starting off, so let us get our feet wet and see how it goes first.

Nice to see a brand-new Rune Factory Frontier for sale for a good price^^ I'm tempted...

That Team Altago t-shirt just got ordered HARDCORE.

Addition: I should note that I actually already have three squeezable Onis, all of which I won from XSEED in various contests. I seem to have a knack for that.

So US will be the guinea pigs, and once everything has been worked out, the real service will begin for the Canadians?

Alright, I can wait for that.

Btw, I have a question. Now that you have your own store, will you also be taking pre-orders and selling games on release for, let's say, Grand Knights History?

Neato. :) I don't live in the US, though, so I guess I'll have to use the same friend's help that I've used previously to order your games.

Is there any chance getting the picture on the front side of Ys Seven T-shirt bigger? It's a bit too small for my taste. :/ If it is not possible, I suppose I could still order it, since I don't own any Ys clothing and options are limited. Beside that I'm not really a fan of the back side's design (I think the Ys logo is a bit too much), even though I'd mostly cover it with my hoodie. Just my two cents. :)

Yaaaay. I forgot to pick up the Oath LE items that Gamestop SHOULD have given me when I bought my copy while I was at the booth at AX, so I'm glad I can finally purchase them at the store!

I've been meaning to check out RF:F too, and at 25 bucks, how can I resist?

I'm confused at this. What LE "items"? Like they gave you a regular copy and not the CE, yet you bought the game at AX? 0_o Wha?

I probably worded that weirdly, but no, I bought the LE at Gamestop. But only the game was inside the box, so I missed out on the calendar and the soundtrack (despite the fact that it was supposed to be new). At the XSEED booth at AX, you could buy those things there, but I never got around to actually picking them up.

Ohhhh! I see... did you ever ask them where the items were? I know some places take out the stuff and keep it in the back, perhaps a different place, so maybe someone forgot or something?

I didn't notice until I got back home, and I bought it a Gamestop that me and my friend stopped off at while hanging out in an area I rarely ever go into (and it's a ways off), so I just kinda dealt with it. It's not too bad, though, since I do have the box, and the extras are far from expensive on XSEED's store, so I'm totally content with just buying them along with RF:F.

Actually that is a bit curious that Little King Story is 40 dollars compared to everything else, maybe its to help fund the localization of the incoming vita version?

My wallet cries, but my heart leaps for joy at the opening of the store and the thought of XSEED getting some more cash. Can't wait to get my shirts in, "Say No to Walls" will be absolutely perfect for boxing, working out, and randomly punching things. And hopefully you guys will continue to supply Onii dolls so I can continue to build a terrifyingly adorable army. I will be adding at least two to every order I ever make until they are completely out of stock. :D Onii pride!

Thanks a bunch for getting this up and running for your fans XSEED, I'll definitely be purchasing quite a bit over time!

Ah...I didn't really understand what the first post meant by '20 dollar limit', seems I can't just buy the onii-doll by itself. but I really want it so, the only games I have on there are Tits, fragile dreams, little king story, RFF, and flower sun and rain. Anything I'm an idiot not for having on there?

Tomo: If it looked good to you in videos, then you'll probably enjoy the heck out of it. It is my favorite Ys game (of the moment), I just always worry about it being too hard or unforgiving for newbies (compared to Ys Seven, anyway).

Drake: Excellent choice. RFF is a superb game -- with a superb opening theme by the great Nakatsuka Takeshi, who happens to be one of my favorite Japanese musicians. The album that song came from, "Kiss & Ride," is one of the most oft-played Japanese CDs I own.

I was hoping you'd have the Ys Seven limited edition, although it's nice to see you're selling the things that came with it separately. Everyone selling it on Amazon and Ebay has it listed for $50+, and I'm not willing to pay that much for it, especially since they're all 3rd-party sellers. If I were to buy the game plus the three extras from the store, what are the chances it would all magically come in a shiny Ys Seven box? :p

Pfft, real men recommend Ys I & II. *already knows what Wyrd will say in response*

As for the store, cool! I may pick up RFF sometime, since I've heard good things about it. I think. I seldom remember the time or place! Also it might be tempting to get an Ys shirt, or a second cloth map, because I'm still desiring to frame the one I have.

The chances are VERY good. ^_- If you want a shiny LE box for your stuff just write the request into the "Instructions from buyer" and we'll make sure to throw it in there. Anyone who buys something from the store can write little (reasonable!) (we cannot mail Tom with every purchase) requests and we'll see what we can do to accommodate them. :)

The three Ys soundtracks and that nifty looking map shall be mine! :D

Now for my unprofessional web-design notes:
1.) Long page is looooooong. I figured since you had categories, each link would lead to a seperate page. Guess not! :p

2.) It bugs me seeing product titles not fully on the same line! Can't you move the "add to cart" and "price" above or below the box/merch art?

3.) You know those online game codes for your games at Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=sr_in_-2_p_4_50?rh=n%3A468642%2Cn%3A%2144263011%2Cn%3A%21 251261011%2Cn%3A1289533011%2Cn%3A1289535011%2Cp_4% 3AXseed&bbn=1289535011&ie=UTF8&qid=1317871341&rnid=345753011)? Add those to your store, or rather something like that. I don't know how codes are made/distributed but making them available on your shop couldn't hurt. (btw get them to update the HMH & Ys Seven prices lol)

Got my loot 15 minutes ago. Free bonus Lunar soundtrack? Nice. I have it already from the LE so I'll either keep it minty fresh sealed or gift it to someone. :)

Ys cloth map is indeed as nice as it looked screens! Ys cds on the other hand... all damaged. The cases anyway. I & II is the best off. Just a minor scratch in the lower right corner. Ys Seven was easy to unseal because the wrapping was cut by the broken lower right portion of the case. Oath is the worst of the bunch though. Not just a crack in the lower right (sensing a pattern, all on the front btw) but the upper left hinge is just gone, not even there!

I'm not upset though. For the price this stuff is a great deal and if I had wanted to be a collector I'd have gotten the LEs in the first place. :p CD cases have seemingly never evolved beyond being fragile anyway. Now if I ever got a game case in similar condition...

Dang, I didn't get a freebie. I have to say that I'm not surprised you ran into packing issues because mine was literally bursting at the seams, but I had stuff that was soft and thus fine despite a tear. It's one of those things that you'll run into from time to time. But you're right, CD cases tend not to make the shipment fully intact for one reason or another.

Good question, but I'd say the reprint cost them a lot of money or there's some hefty licensing involved.

Really sorry about that, we'll try to be more careful about the packing of our soundtrack CDs in particular. Maybe if we wrap them with bubble-wrap before placing them in our bubble-wrap lined mailers, perhaps that would be the answer? Jewel-cases tend to look nice, but can be a bit fragile. Thank you for not being upset about it, and it's not an excuse, but these are standard jewel-cases with a black back that can be commonly found in stores for very cheap so it shouldn't be hard to replace and slide in the printed frontliner from the old case.

Regarding the inclusion of Lunar, if someone is obviously a fan of soundtracks and ordering all 3 Ys soundtracks, we try to include the Lunar one since we're not allowed to sell it for licensing reasons - but that don't mean we can't give them away sometimes.

AngrySalesMonkey
10-13-2011, 11:20 PM
No, seriously, why is Little King's Story so expensive compared to most everything else? ;~;

This is because all our games are set at or above the price that retailers have them at. Little King's Story, though we didn't ship as many as we would have liked, sold pretty well at the retail level in terms of % of the number of units they had on hand. This means that we only had to mark the title down from the original $49.99 to $39.99 to sell off all the inventory our retail customers were carrying, and that's still the number in our books. If we sell for a price less than that, there's a chance a retailer could complain that we're undercutting them, regardless of how few units they may have left in inventory.

This has seemed to work out pretty well for NISA because I had a lot more problems with their packaging before they used bubble wrap inside their packaging. I think it's worth a shot.

I don't know how well they handle the shipping process, but I've always preferred those nice slim cardboard cd cases. Examples I could think of being the soundtrack for 28 Days Later, and lol, more recently, the new Gorillaz album, Plastic Beach. These take up less space than jewel cases, and from a collector's perspective they just seem nicer than some jewel case with a slip in cover and back.

AngrySalesMonkey
10-13-2011, 11:52 PM
Thank you, Ryos, on the feedback. We'll definitely give bubble-wrap within bubble-wrap a try when not sending via the hard slim cardboard package as those seem to protect their contents fairly well between not giving it room to move around and the deep grooves built into them (unless someone else on here got one of these slim cardboard packages from us with damaged goods inside).

And many thanks to Gintoki on the slim cardboard cd case suggestion. You just gave me a reason to go buy the latest Gorillaz album on the company's dime all for the sake of "research."

While I only have four total versus numerous more plastic ones I've never been terribly fond of the cardboard cd holders. They always look and feel so cheap up against the plastic ones. Cardboard can be easily destroyed in its own ways as you may find with your research!

Whatever the decision just please don't go with the "slipcover" type of cardboard cases. Get the ones with nubs! To this day its still a pain for me to get my Lunar SSSC & Lunar EBC cds out of that blasted contraption they called a cd holder!

SpaceDrake
10-14-2011, 06:35 PM
Just chiming in with feedback that yeah, jewel cases are notorious for being hard to ship; the plastic used in a standard jewel case is ludicrously brittle and is prone to snapping with even the slightest bit of torque. It's possible to get less [bacon] jewel cases, but of course those also cost $$$.

Bubblewrap-in-bubblewrap is pretty much the only way to ensure a lack of breakage, and even then it's a gamble. Of course, at this point I'm used to jewel cases getting smashed up a bit in transit, so I personally don't mind much.

Gintoki
10-14-2011, 09:23 PM
I don't see the point in using jewel cases if they are just gonna get smashed up. Take the Netflix delivery method as an example. They just use those little paper envelopes, and I've never had a dvd show up broken. I still think the lite cardboard cd cases I mentioned earlier would be nicer to have, and they wouldn't have as much risk in getting messed up as jewel cases. They might even be cheaper.

Here are the examples I was talking about earlier.

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii148/iamheath/IMG_0380.jpg?t=1318627150

And the insides (excepting the left side of the 28 album due to the end being extremely bacon nigh)
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii148/iamheath/IMG_0381.jpg?t=1318627233

Obviously, Plastic Beach is a newer album, but the 28 Days Later album was bought way back in 2003, and its lasted the test of time much better than the majority of my jewel cases, in part due to its flexibility.

Fate

On that note, I have no idea if the license has lapsed or something, but I would literally shiv a man with a piece of non-sharp bacon in order to see Retro Game Challenge up on the site. I'd really, really like to buy a new copy straight from you guys so you can see some of that money.
If we had them we would gladly sell them, but we've been out for a long time. Surprisingly, GameStop still has original inventory of this title and may even ship via online orders: http://www.gamestop.com/ds/games/retro-game-challenge/73087

Just the way packaged goods work - though some retailers show they are "heavy" on inventory in certain games, it's almost impossible to find one of those unsold copies in any of their physical locations close to you. That's why digital distribution is superior, right SpaceDrake?

We haven't had those in stock in years, but I'll check on the licensing rights to see if we can't get them posted up to PSN in the PS2 Classics program like you stated.

Ah that's a shame. Let's hope those rights are still there. Up until Brave Story vanished, I never knew game localization licenses expired. Kind of like anime in that regard. The more you know!

Take a clue from Vic Ireland: keep a warehouse (er, closet?) full of old loot to gradually sell off years after the fact. :)

By the way I see neither version of Fishing Resort is on the store. Is there some mandatory amount of time which has to pass between retail release and your own shop? Capcom/Nisa/etc. seem to have new games available for pre-order and purchase. Ah, that may be one of the things you're still working out?

Nothing set in stone in terms of a policy on this, though we are definitely not able to take pre-orders as we have a very basic Paypal backend powering our store (whereas NISA I know they have at least one full-time programmer specifically for Rosenqueen). We will try to get Fishing Resort posted on our store soon, but only the standalone version - shipping out the bundle would be too much of a hassle and little too expensive for us.

I live in one of the worst countries to get things without importing (where the PS3 has only a handful of titles officially launched and a Wii or DS game costs over US$100, a PS Vita US$800).

I wish XSeed had an eBay store for international customers, but I don't know if it is feasible.

The viagra thing was removed from the forums some time in the past, but Google was asked to fix our search results before they managed to find the last sneaky code bit, and therefore the viagra ad remains on Google until it's refreshed again. It's all very mysterious to me. I'll try and see what they did last time to get it refreshed.

As for the bots, we'd decided to change the sign up questions about a month ago to see if that would help cut out the few that we did have, but perversely it only made it worse. Listen well, my friends. Removing delicious animal questions can only lead to tragedy, and we see the results of that here.

It's my understanding that you can ship to anywhere in the United States, but -only- if you are from America. I tried to purchase a ton of copies of Trails in the Sky to send to all my friends in California, Kentucky, Florida, Ohio, etc. directly from the XSeed store so they'd profit more from it, but despite me intending to ship to the States it wouldn't let me proceed with the transaction because I have a Canadian Paypal. So instead I ended up using Amazon.

$20 to Belgium. Looks like it's a little cheaper than flat rate international shipping for citizens. $20 is a little more than €15 for me. err... apparently not. I got a warning that the game cannot be played on a vita when I bought it. that, or my memory is playing tricks on me (headache that doesn't let me think correctly...).

anyway, there's enough goodies on the store to let me spend $100+, which should compensate for the shipping cost. Now the hardest task will be to explain my people that I'm actually spending this money on goodies :-P.

speaking of which, I finally gave my brother the falcom virus. I got him to play trails, and now he's into Felghana. This was due to happen.

You should be able to transfer it from the PS3, even if you can't download it from the Vita store. IIRC there aren't many games that can't be transferred that way (Brave Story, for one).

Got a ps3, so I might be able to do this, even if I don't understand why the game isn't simply available from the vita store. well, anyway, I don't have a vita right now, and I don't plan on getting one anytime soon. Celceta and other jrpgs might change this someday, but I'd like the price cut to reflect in Europe and more games being announced before going for it. I've always been a Nintendo early buyer and a Sony late buyer... dunno why.

EDIT: Ack! The hesitation! I can either have a digital Ys Seven (vita compatible, virtually no loading time) for 10€, or a physical Ys Seven (no vita compatibility, but again, I have no vita) with 2 bracer pins and 2 musical soundtrack CDs for $65 (~50€), or physical Ys Seven and one T-Shirt for again $65. Adding anything else raise shipping cost by $10. Ah, cruel (loosely) additive shipping costs :p!

(Anyway, thank you XSEED for the store internationalization)
