wish i could find a more reliable source, but i guess it will have to suffice.
whats your 2 cents and your exp' with it, if at all?

Haven't seen him around this board lately, but I think one of our members here, MP83, played this game for a bit, and I know quite a few members of the Ancient Land of Ys message board were pretty crazy about it (some of them even migrating to the Japanese server after the European server shut down, though eventually the Japanese server started blocking foreign IPs and they were forced to quit). I never checked it out myself, as there was never any official method of accessing any of the servers from North America... but from what I hear, it is indeed a surprisingly decent MMORPG.
And it has a pretty cool soundtrack, with orchestral arrangements of lots of Ys themes -- most of which can be found on YouTube now.

Here's my thoughts on Ys Online:
While it isn't much more than a generic Korean MMORPG, I did enjoy playing it a *lot*. It didn't add much to the Ys series, but it did have enough Ys references in it to keep me interested. Having good friends to play with helped too. :)
I first played the stripped-down European version for 11 months, from the very beginning (January 1, 2009) to its cancellation (November 28, 2009), then the Japanese version for over a year, until it was eventually IP blocked, which is when I was forced to stop playing Ys Online altogether. :( The best character I had was a Lv62 Kimo archer, named EdibleNasu:

As for the current state of Ys Online: It's only available in Japan anymore (IP blocked). The European, Chinese and Korean versions were discontinued in November 2009, April 2010 and December 2010 respectively. There used to be a mention or two of Ys Online Global happening one day, but it was such a long time ago that it's safe to say that the project is as good as abandoned.
Here's some random links from my Ys Online days:

that aside during the time i played, i was surprised i had access to the game back then, i guess i was considred EU zone [go figure] despite the fact i loive at middle east, israel.
i also kept some where some screenies of it in photobucket and/or FB... good times,, hell i even created the toon like adol as well [logical the option existed..:P]
Ys Online Japan website:

It's IP blocked, which is a pity, since they have some rather nice Ys Online wallpapers in there.

I hesitate to mention this, but for a dead MMO, it might be the only answer.
Look up "Freeshard." There MAY still be hope for people wanting to play this. Maybe.
