No need to lure me in, girl; you had me hooked long ago.
...Like you didn't expect me to take the bait, oh all-mighty Box-headed Overlord...

I dunno, man, that's a pretty fishy response. Almost seems like you're trolling! Jess might have to catch you sometime tomorrow, and give you a reel good talking-to.
...Boat.

Huh...! I didn't realize this was by the co-creator of Sonic.
I've always enjoyed fishing games. This game is giving me some Animal Crossing vibes, and I loved Animal Crossing, so I think I'm going to give this a spin.

Can I ask what's up with the Magna_Mixalis account?
Is it someone from the competition trolling the board?
I only ask because they seem to really have a thing about teasing the XSEED staffers.

He's a former XSEEDite who now works at Aksys Games. Fun guy. Master of awesome puns, too. If you ever play an Aksys game and see mention of "Mr. Tiddles" somewhere, it was almost certainly his doing. (:

Aha, that explains it!
I didn't mean to be nosy, I just wasn't sure quite what way to take his posts and wanted to make sure it was all in good fun. I remember reading the banter between him and AngrySalesMonkey in the PAX thread and being all:

Anyway, sorry for derailing the thread, and thanks for indulging my curiosity!
Back to talking about fishies!

^^Sorry about that. I wasn't deliberately trolling, just trying to amuse my comrade-in-arms. Well, except angrysalesmonkey; I try to troll him at every opportunity.
And as for Mr. Tiddles, I cannot take credit for that one; that was all H.Protagonist. I just took up the banner with a (frightening and overblown) zeal.

Hmm... I don't know now. Most fishing games I play allow you to see what type of fish you're catching before you reel it in (though not before you hook it, of course). At the very least they'll show you shadows of fish, and you can kind-of guess what type it is by their size and location.
Plus it doesn't sound like the actual fishing is that difficult. Do the fish even fight back? I understand this is supposed to be a 'family-friendly' game, but that doesn't mean it has to be devoid of challenge. Kawa no Nushi Tsuri 2 was ostensibly a family game, and that fishing mechanic could be downright frustrating if you didn't practice.

This game is a bit more realistic. If the fish is close to the surface, you CAN see its shadow, or see a slight reflection of it, but if it's deep enough in the water, it's practically invisible.
Big fish in shallow waters are amazing, though, as you can see them every time. (:

Oh, of course! The bigger/stronger the fish, too, the more it fights back, with some of the best catches in the game really causing you to work up a sweat. It's worth it, though, for the S-rank "you caught a fish" animation, which is extremely dramatic and satisfying. (:

Thanks! I guess those were more of the impressions I was looking for.

Ah, you devils! I had no idea that I could ever get interested in a fishing game. Seems like I was mistaken.
