I guess it resembles a swastika. There's a lot more meaning behind it (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika) than just being a Nazi symbol though.

Personally, I think it's a coincidence of the dungeon design. I doubt the devs were trying to make any kind of national socialist statement, especially in a game so relentlessly depressing as Fragile.

Just so you know, the original meaning of the symbol has nothing to do with what Nazis used it for. Someone else mentioned this but it is good to know in general, in case you run into any people from India, who use the original version of the swastika as a holy symbol (it actually looks a little different).
