First off, I am super excited to hear Xseed is bringing this out in North America. Thanks so much, guys. :D I was going to import the European version, but I can wait now.
The Euro version is going to have French text as an option. Please include it in your version! It would be great for Qu?©bequers, and since the game takes place in a France-inspired world it would help the immersion a lot for players who can read French.
(PS - if you make a collector's edition I will totally buy the heck out of it.)

You bring up a good point. If the language track is already in there, I see no reason why we'd actively remove it. It wouldn't make much sense to do so, after all!
All I can say is that we'll try to leave all the languages in, and I don't personally see any reason why we COULDN'T... but you never know. If it turns out that they have to be removed for some reason, though, it'll be through no fault of ours. (:

That's awesome, I'm glad you'd like to try to leave all the languages! I understand it might be outside your control, but I'd *love* to see the French language text option kept. :D I'm even more excited about your release now.
Euro games usually have a text language selector on game bootup, or detect system language, rather than shipping separate language versions. My understanding is that's how Solatorobo's likely being done.
Any idea when you'd be able to say whether you'll be able to or not?

By chance Vlcice do you know if the Euro version have Spanish text as an option also?

Not sure, but maybe. Nintendo of Europe has released several Spanish trailers, but none with gameplay footage so far. I haven't seen any Spanish screenshots or gameplay, so I'm not sure if there'll be Spanish in-game text.

Just as a heads-up, even if the French text is left in we have no plans to create a Quebecois bilingual packaging version so there's a chance retailers may not stock it in Quebec due to the laws there (though hopefully you can still order it from Amazon.ca).
Why will we not create a bilingual version for Quebec, you ask? It's a combination of our owner's manuals usually being huge full-color affairs so having it in two languages will make it too thick to fit inside the box, and of course there's the extra costs issue where we would be spending a lot of money to be bilingual-compliant in our packaging materials for an area that consists of only about 2-3% of the total sales volume between the US and Canada. I know it sucks, but afraid that's the reality as that bilingual law really hurts us as a small publisher.

Fair enough, I understand that. I always thought it must be a lot of work for publishers, especially smaller publishers like Xseed. The bilingual packaging isn't a priority for me (but French in-game is ;)) I appreciate how open you guys are about these things.
BTW, according to a friend of mine in the UK the Euro version autoselects language based on the system language setting - would probably be a good way to keep the language option unintrusive by keeping it that way in your version.

So since the game is coming out next month, can I check in about the French text again?

Sorry to keep bumping, but I'd really like an answer since the game is out so soon! :D

Honestly, I don't think any of us really know, save for our QA house. (: It should function in exactly the same manner as the European version, though, as we really didn't touch the game's programming at all.

I've always been against that law, but at the same time I love my language and want to keep it safe since a lot of people in Montreal cannot speak a single french which annoys me!
But I've always played in english, and will ever do (Only Spayro dawn of the dragon was an exception, the translation was incredibly good!). French manuals are overrated, it takes too much place, and lot of time the translation is complete crap. I remember that final fantasy X manual oh god.... Games boxes that are in french worth less than games with english only.
Look at THIS! :
From Mana Khemia 2 collector's box :
You can find anything...if you look hard enough
Vous pouvez tout trouver...se vous cherchez bien. (what?!! It should be SI no SE ?!)
And yet it's not finished!
Two main characters to choose from!
Deux personnages principaux ?† choix (it should be AU not ?Ä)
Chopose either the girl of the boy who enrolled in the academy and enjoy their campus life!
Choississez soit la fille, soir le gar?ßon, (no comma should be there!) qui s'inscrit ?† l'acad?©mie et s'?©clate de la vie universitaire... (what life could be ''university?'', it should have benn ''s'?©clate de la vie sur le campus'' Campus exits in french too!)
From Atelier Annie :
D?©fendez-vous contre les monsters (hum..maybe they forgot to switch the ''e'' and the ''r''....?) dangereux!
Or sometime they actually translate GAMING WORDS! That way is much more complicated to understand, so you resort to the english manual!
OK. Fingers crossed then, thanks! :D
According to the newest press release the NA version has English, Spanish, and French text. :3

It actually also contains German and Italian just like the European release had, but those two languages are only available when played on a regular DS and cannot be chosen from the start menu on a DSi. I'm not sure why though, perhaps it has something to do with the DSi region-locking features? Either way we didn't want to confuse people in our press release, so that's why we only listed the three that everyone will see.

I'm a bilingual anglophone and I switched my 3DS over to French for this game. It has such a wonderful atmosphere, it feels so much better en fran?ßais. Thanks for including it!
