Has anyone seen this yet? I heard from my comic buddies who watched it that it's one of the best comic-based movies ever. They even said it rivals Dark Knight

I've also heard it's good but haven't gotten around to seeing it.

I went to see it on my birthday last week and loved it. Like the other X-Men movies, this one had a number of inconsistencies in comparison to the comics and even had some inconsistencies with the other movies (although I'm still not sure if this movie was supposed to be a prequel or a complete reboot). It was a great movie overall, I really enjoyed it. It's probably my favorite of the X-Men movies.

Good but not an X-men movie.

Just watch the old comics

I had issues with it, but it was relatively strong and definitely worth a watch. Michael Fassbender as Magneto was phenomenal, and James McAvoy as Xavier and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique were great as well. Zoe Kravitz was just terrible and completely unnecessary, and January Jones stood there blankly and looked hot throughout the movie extremely well. Oh, and I just could not take Kevin Bacon seriously... Especially when he put on his helmet....

The main problems I had with the movie though was with how much story they tried to put in it. To me the entire plot just felt incredibly rushed. The supposed friendships seemed quickly forced, the team itself being formed felt quick (as did the training of their powers), and the personal "transformations" into who they eventually become felt way to premature. I really wish they had fleshed it out better into two separate films over a longer time period. But, that was just my personal nitpicking. My girlfriend LOVED it, although that was probably because Magneto was "super foxy" as she put it (although I have to admit I agree completely), and it's been getting great reviews and being called the best movie of the series. For me it ranked definitely above X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men III, and probably right below X-Men I & II which I really enjoyed.

As for it being one of the best comic book movies, I would definitely have to disagree. I thought Sin City, 300, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Watchmen, Kick-BACONBACONBACON, Spider-Man I & II, and Iron Man were all much stronger flicks.

Those are some really good movies you have listed there. Sin City was probably the most interesting to me from a visual aspect but I liked all of those others too.

Although I enjoyed it, this was nowhere near as good as The Dark Knight was. It's a shame there wasn't more Magneto because frankly, any scene with him was much more interesting than all the other nonsense they put into the movie. Definitely better than I thought it would be going into the movie though.

I haven't seen it, but I thought the trailer looked decent. :3
