Hi there! I'm currently playing this game, and I saw no specific thread on it O_o
I have a few questions about that game :
* The guy who wants to buy Raval ore..is there something special to that or is he only pyaing gold and that's it?
* Is it normal that I had so much trouble with the dragon flying thingy, always dying when the head was the only part left? Same for the birdy-bat with spiky floor. And the mecha...omg that boss was so hard I HAD to lower the difficulty level Y_Y I feel so cheap
* Is it normal that in the castle I get OWNED at a scertain point? I enter the clock tower and BANG dead in two shot!! :O I still like hard games, but it must be fair :D
Special note on the music...there so much awsomness in this game *__*

Awesome awesome awesome soundtrack. And yes, you probably want to sell that guy raval ore. It's easier to do late in the game when you can get a ton of it.
Not sure what you're referring to regarding the clock tower. An enemy? I know it had those big enemies that were fairly strong... but I don't remember dying in two hits or anything.

Maybe I'm low-level O_o God that would explains lots if things ^^'' I got max for all equipment (but still missing the two last of each piece)
Is there anything special happening for selling him Raval Ore? Maybe a piece of equipement or anything XD

Nope, he just gives you gold. However, you will need a lot of gold both to upgrade the final equipment to max and to buy the extremely strong accessory from the shop. (The one that revives you when you die, effectively doubling Adol's hp.)
The mech boss was pretty brutal. Spamming mines behind him when you can only inflict damage from behind is annoying in conjunction with dodging all of his attacks. I think on hard mode, I generally stayed quite close and doubled jumped over him a lot. There are some really leet Ys players on these forums though, so I imagine they can tell you better than me.

He only pays you gold. Something else happens if you give him enough Raval though.

I'm playing on normal mode. I used double jump A LOT and Terra bracelet to block his gunfire and mines which was pretty effective. Wait, that's right I didn't lowered the difficulty there XD

Can I have an hint about the last 6 pieces of equipment?
Edit : I got Spirit cape...so usefull i simply dodged every monster, hitting me 145 and I hit 1 O_o Sold some Ore, got the ring, gave the ring...got talisman of war O_o Now missing two items near the statues.
I really HAVE to open the CD and extarct the music :)

If you're at the clock tower or beyond, you should be able to get the second to last set of armor. You're not to the last set though.

Okay so the last set is really hidden? Only missing 2 accessories and 2 sets of equipment :D I guess I'll grind a little bit. If I die at clock tower's entrance I think I might be low-leveled ^^''

And the gems? I admit I couldn't find all those XD I had to use a guide to get the last few. Most of them aren't too bad as long as you remember all the locations you pass by but can't get to.

You should definitely sell your raval ore to the guy, since once you complete his quest you get something to complete another person's quest.
Also, I died a bunch of times on the bosses in this game and had to lower the difficulty so don't feel bad xD And the music is amazing xD

Ok so I'm totally normal :D Glad to hear (well read). I sold him the raval ore that got me a ring I gave the other guy :D I was like oh jerk! That's the man's ring!
But wow I think I'll return to every dungeon to get the two missing items. I never used a faq on this one, I don't want to, and still I want all item/equipment.
For now...I'll go on Fragile Dreams, my batteries were dead Y_Y Looks like I was not meant to play this game today, I'm stuck in the sewer/watersystem looking place
WTH?! I made a typing mistake on the thread's title...Now I hate myself
=> If XSEED brings us Ys 4&5 premium...the sidebox drawing will be separeted XD the first box is the two girls (don't know their name yet), after that it's Elena and Chester , then adol dogi and Aisha

Sorry for double posting, but I'm tired of editing :
I'm looking for the sword in Valestan Castle. I'm trying to find everything.
* Missing second-to-last sword
* Missing the item between Boost boost and Lotus Hammer
* Missing two Red gem, two green and one yellow
A little help?

Just finished Ys: Oath in Felghana now on the PSP, marking my fourth Ys game done.
I enjoyed it quite a lot, but I didn't get into it like I did with all the previous games, maybe because I shouldn't play them one after the other (although I finished Gravity Rush before I started Oath in Felghana). Elena is quite the charming female lover, and an improvement from Lilia. The story was miles ahead those of the previous Ys I & II, but like I said, I didn't get to enjoy it. Maybe because I forced myself to play it at least 10 minutes everyday, even if I was sick or not in the mood, since if I stopped even a day, there'd be the chance that I did not finish it.
The characters were charming, I found the voice-work quite amusing, and the graphics are on par with Trails in the Sky. All that is left now is Ark of Napishtim, Seven, and Celceta no Jukai whenever XSEED releases it. I won't jump into the other games right now, since I'll be on a Vita frenzy in October and November, but maybe I'll do it during the vacation along with the Gagharv trilogy.

Going from Oath to Ark sounds painful. Definitely play some stuff inbetween, because Ark plays like an inferior version of Oath. Not that it's bad, but you'll get a lot more out of it if you go in more fresh.

Will do, gotta play a lot of games before I do that.

The one thing Ark has over Oath IMHO is story, so there's that, at least!

Oath's story is probably the weakest of any Ys game I've played, honestly. If we count 1&2 together at least.

I was almost typing "But Ys I was th-", then I saw the last part of your sentence.

1&2 are basically attached at the hip anyway. That's probably why there's never been a version of Ys II released in English without also coming with Ys I (as far as I know).
I liked the climactic ending of II in particular, to the point that I'd say the entire Solomon Shrine area is probably one the highlights of the series for me.

I'd agree with you, if the way the story was approached the same, but Ys II completely improves on Ys I story.

We may disagree on many things... but on this, we are in complete agreement. Solomon Shrine is to this day one of my favorite final dungeons of all time. No other RPG dungeon has ever had that same atmosphere -- that same sense that you really are the lone hope for humanity, infiltrating a dauntingly huge enemy base.
Amazing, amazing dungeon. Really, Solomon Shrine alone is the big reason I rank Ys II as highly as I do in the series as a whole.

Solomon Shrine really is my favorite dungeon ever as well. It's almost like a city, where you can get through killing everything, or make it through as a Roo and talking to the various enemies.

I suddenly have this irresistible urge to replay Ys II. Maybe I'll do that this weekend.

I'm talking about Ys I, not Ys Seven. Ys II is a direct sequel, where you really have to play the first game to make any sense of it.

The PSP/DS version has both games, and Ys I is pretty short, so there's no reason you can't play the second without playing the first.

Has one of my all time favorite tracks from the entire series to boot ;)
Bump, sorry for the necro but I received Felghana this afternoon and I had to ask something...
Maybe I am mistaking but hey Tom, were you the one who wrote the manual? I really had the feeling to read you, especially the Hint parts ;)

Oh, that was me for sure. ;) I actually had the honor of translating/reworking the manuals for all of our PSP Falcom games thus far.
