I definitely plan on watching this once I play through both FC and SC. When is it supposed to start? How many episodes is it supposed to be? I'm avoiding the site because I've heard it has some major spoilers for SC.

Yep, the anime has more spoilers of SC, because SC is more large than FC. So I think that FC will have 6 or 8 episodes.

I can't find the name of the character designer, but the studio is Kinema Citrus(Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, .Hack//Quantum)

I am certainly looking forward to this regardless a SC spoiler or not :p; and plus watching the anime and play the games gives different feels anyways :D

and unless you can read the Japanese fully, you shouldnt be worry about the SC spoilers I assume :p

I'll be looking forward to this as well--I probably will only watch up until the end of FC's events, though, at least until after SC comes out in the States.
The only thing I'm slightly worried about is that the art style is rather different from the in-game art style, but I'm sure it's just that I'm not accustomed to it, and it won't bother me as much once I'm used to it.

Yep a full voiced character storyline is what gets me interested too :) i mean in the regular TitS we only hear the battle voices but not regular conversation ^_^.

And now... the animated preview video itself (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUYgjabz1I4). Be warned, there's a number of minor spoilers for Second Chapter even in this; they really seem to assume everyone knows the plot to SC at this point.

As for the video itself... man, I still just don't know. The animation looked okay I guess, but the characters themselves just look so funky. And there were a number of rather "cheap" animation tricks in there that I'd hoped to not see.

I think the thing that worries me is that all the images we've seen of the show so far... have been from this preview. I'm a mite worried that we haven't actually seen anything from what must be the actual show yet.

I'd have to say I agree with you, SpaceDrake--the character designs feel a bit...off. The animation is a little bit awkward at times, too. Blurgh, I'll still take a look, but one of my feet is still on the other side of the door, so to speak.
*Sigh* To me, in general, I think something is off about an adaption made for fans of a series when the fans look at it and think, "Wait, who is that again? Is that really supposed to be [character name]?"

It's only into FC right now; it started up not too long ago. It's been having trouble capturing the charm of the games, too, and has already made some very strange plot decisions (like a change to the "fight the critters on the farm in Rolent" scene that completely invalidates the point the game was trying to make and makes Estelle look like an idiot).

Nnnnnnno, manga "chapters" are different from the game chapters. Manga chapters are about 25-ish pages each; the fourth manga chapter basically gets to the start of the game's Chapter 1, with Bose.

Is this going to be a TV series or is it just going to be an OVA?

If its known already, any idea if it will include FC? The PV's make it seem like its SC only.

Thirdly, any idea if someone is going to take up translating this?

I don't think it's airing on TV, just going straight to DVD/BD, but I don't know how long it's going to be. ^^;

I hope it's long enough to flow smoothly in terms of character development and plot execution. I don't want to feel like it's cramming everything into a few episodes or rushing too much ^_^; Either way, I'm still all for watching this and overall pretty excited for it =)

Sorry if I'm reviving this old topic, but, just in case you people still didn't get the info, as far as I know it is supposed to be 2 Blu-ray&DVD OVAs only. :'(
I really wanted to watch it, but I heard it already starts on SC. :( So, I'll wait at least until the end of the next year before looking for a chance on watching it (though I don't know Japanese, so it would have to have English subs by then or I wouldn't watch it). ^^
So, it'll be basically 'fan material'-only. The first one was already released (November 25th, I think) and the 2nd OVA comes next year (February 24th, it seems).
The OVA's Opening is a new version of "Silver Will, Golden Wings" (the opening of SC) sung by Kanako Kotera (who is also the singer for Way of Life and Aoi Kiseki, if I remember it correctly) and the ending is Harmonia by Choucho, a song I really liked, I must add.
