I played that one. Great game too. And I expect this one to be just as good, only I get to play it on a much bigger screen this time :D.

Bear in mind that "Wizardry: Tale of the Forsaken Land" isn't actually a Wizardry game at all -- its original Japanese title was "Busin: Wizardry Alternative."
"Labyrinth of Lost Souls" is a much more old-school affair -- a lot more simple and "to the point" than its PS2 predecessor. In essence, it's a real, bonafide Wizardry experience, with none of the bells and whistles characterized by Busin and its ilk. Some may find this disappointing, but old-school Wizardry fans should be pleased, I think!
My point, though, is this: Tale of the Forsaken Land and Labyrinth of Lost Souls have a lot in common... but there is also much that's different between them. So don't go into LoLS expecting Busin... go into it expecting to be transported back to a simpler time, when men were MEN and games were GAMES. ;)
At any rate, thanks for the kind words, and I hope you all have a great time with this game once it releases. It does what it does very well, and as long as you go into it with the right mindset, I think you'll all really enjoy it!

My recommendation: track down Bane of the Cosmic Forge while you're waiting for Labyrinth ^_^

It's funny, though - poking around as a ghost on a few boards shows a LOT of folks either have zero idea about the origins of Wizardry or have only played the great PS2 game published by Atlus, which as Tom says, isn't really a "true" Wizardry game. The funny thing is when a few of them actually DO look it up and see that a lot of games they love are all based on or have sprung from the Wizardry series in one or more ways.

That second link is amazing and wonderful. I hadn't actually seen it before.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the 'true' Wizardry games. I've just never played them. :P
From what I played of the demo, there's a lot of similarities between Labyrinth and TotFL. Very similar tone and music.
Also, TotFL had a fantastic story. Minimalist, but great. I hope LoLS has one like it.

It's got a refreshingly dark, creepy story, to be sure. Also minimalist, but also very good. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I played every game they have listed at that site. I fact I have been there many times. My thought was this game would be a bit like the early Wizardry games but in reality it does not matter because I'm buying it anyway. I need many more RPGs on my PS3. Oh how I long for more Wild ARMs too.

The sole reason I was even wishing for the PSN to come back up was so that I could snag Wizardry! I think I was busy playing it before you guys and gals even knew it was available xD
Anyway, yes, thanks so much for bringing this over! I was JUST about to take the plunge and get the Japanese version when you announced the localization, and I'm eternally grateful. Wizardry's punishingly hard enough (in the good way!) without adding in Japanese on top of it.

I traded in my Xbox 360 for a PSN for this sole purpose: to play these RPGs, man! I wasn't it was going to happen, but I went with my gut instinct. And my gut instinct is right! Like I said in the intro thread, THANK YOU!
