View Full Version : Ys Seven New Game+ or Continuation? (possible SPOILERS)
Future Primitive

This is my first post on these forums, hey everybody! I bought Ys Seven a few weeks ago and just completed it yesterday.
I was wondering if anyone else knows if you can continue playing the game after you defeat the final boss. I had a lot of loose ends to tie up with extra titanos and certain quests, but I would hate to use the save I had right before the final boss arena.
Is there some sort of way to continue the game after the "Fin" screen? Or maybe at least a New Game+? I'm not sure if there's a certain code to enter, or if the game just ends after the boss fight.
It was a wonderful game. I'm not sure why some critics said the story was weak, because I thought it was brilliant and tugged at the heart strings.
Thank you Xseed for the spectacular localization! I'm really glad that I was able to experience this game and story...now on to Oath and I&II!

Nope, there is no New Game+ but hey, you can restart with another difficulty! :3
As for the game being weak, it didn't have the strongest of plots or anything. Really, the best thing about it was the super fun gameplay~!

I don't think there's any New Game+ feature, unfortunately. You'll just have to replay it if you want to do those quests.
Oath does have New Game+ though, in case you weren't aware, as well as some nice gallery unlockables.

Ouch, that bites...:(
I knew that the Xseed forums would be the right place to go for this kind of a question! I appreciate the speedy replies!
To be honest, Ys Seven is probably one of my favorite RPGs, and I've played a lot of great ones. The Limited Editions of all of the XSeed released PSP Ys games are worth it for sure!
I might use my last save and finish up everything, it's a bummer that I have to do it when the Winds of Destruction are everywhere. Kind of makes everything look bleak. I think I'll go tackle those optional titanos: like the huge sand worm, the horned brontosaurus, or that earwig looking thing. I think I missed half of the quests, but I could have finished more than I thought.
It was a very rewarding game even on normal difficulty. Didn't read a FAQ or anything, just played it straight old school. I did read a FAQ after beating the final boss and saw some nice perks for beating those optional titanos...that drop that the dinosaur gives is awesome. I wish I had gotten it earlier, HP rejuvenation anywhere would've helped a lot.
Fingers crossed for an Ys Eight! Thanks so much guys! :D

Hi, Future Primitive. I went through pretty much the same process of searching for extras. I was particularly disappointed that there was no optional fight with General Dreisen, but I suppose one can't complain too much considering how long the main game was. Amusingly enough, I was told the music wasn't that great before playing it. (!). Vacant Interference boss theme. Need I say more? :)

I didn't want to create another thread for this, but is there any ''extended'' versoin of boss battle? It's the kind of music I like to listen to, but the songs are too short Y_Y
Fedaykin > Yay, exactly the one I want extended XD

I wonder where he found that. or maybe he just patched thing up and it's almost unoticable?
Music extracted from youtube is bad quality =/ I think I'll just put it on repeat XD
Lord of the Rings is even more epic with this song on

Officially, the version that plays in game (and exists on the soundtrack CD) is the full-length version of that song. The only officially extended track is Innocent Primeval Breaker, which can also be found on the soundtrack CD in its full, extended form.

And what an extended version it is. Good on you for putting that on the Musical Selections instead of the shorter one :D
It's not hard to extend a song with a program like Audacity though. You could do a much better job than that guy did on Vacant Interference, especially if you can find the loop points Falcom used for the game.
Is this a Ys Seven music thread now? ;D Because it has awesome overworld themes (Desert of Despair and Reveal the Way to Go, so good!). A lot of the dungeon themes lacked the intensity that other games had though, but maybe I just feel that way since I played Oath in Felghana right before Seven.

the volcanic dungeon after the fire altar in the second part of the game has a good music and also the Iskan village theme and finally Legend of the five dragons !

I'm glad that something better came out of my inquiry thread! And even a reply from Tom no less...
Vacant Interference would get me hyped for every boss battle! Wasn't this song on the launch screen before booting up the disc? I'm pretty sure, because every time I put the UMD in I HAD to listen to it before I started the game to get fired up for more Ys! The Ys games have spectacular music. It's pretty varied too!
Speaking of more Ys... I'm dying to know what those teaser images were for that upcoming Ys game, but of course there's a thread for that. I...have a fever...and the only prescription...is more Ys!!
Yeah, I went there.

Pretty sure it was a clip of Innocent Primeval Breaker that played in the XMB.
And there were teaser images for the new game released? I hadn't heard anything about that.

Oh yeah you were right about that, I guess it was because I heard Vacant Interference so many times... Innocent Primeval Breaker is the one with that catchy violin featured melody right?
I haven't played Seven in a couple months, so I guess I'll have to boot it up and remember the songs! Or, even better, pop in that super nice soundtrack CD!
As far as the teaser image... in the "Next Ys game in development" thread; looking at it again, it looks a lot like Seven with a different profile picture for Adol. Maybe that's just a photo of a different version of Seven? Or maybe it is the upcoming game... who knows?
To me, it looks like I'm at two strikes now, so I'm going to shut up before spew more misleading stuff out of my keyboard!

I'm assuming that screenshot was from an earlier build of Seven; I've seen a couple others that had that portrait of Adol and they were all clearly images from Seven (on the standard edition's Amazon page there's a shot of Adol in Shannoa using that portrait of him.) And yeah, Innocent Primeval Breaker is the one with the catchy violin melody - I love that song too!

Yes it is!
I hope I won'T finish Oath in Felghana today, not too much to do at job so I play while there's no customers XD Maybe I should bring along another game... YS chronicles perharps?

I began a new game in nightmare in ys seven but men it's really tough !!! at certain boss I thought I was going to become crazy like against the boss in the cave before the desert , also against thr nasty bird with mishera or also against the dragon of the wind , but the worst is surely the dragon of the moon for now damn of this dragon !

i heard Ys 7 music was awful then i heard it first hand.
honestly the Music is awesome. in additions to the tracks talked about here i also really liked mother earth Altago. i heard a pretty sweet JDk mix of it on youtube today as well. also speaking of that games music anyone else find that Oath had a killer dungeon OST lineup and Ys 7 Had a killer boss/overworld lineup of songs. one thing that i didnt like about Oaths OST was the boss music IMO it lacked intensity that Ys2 and Ys7 nailed.

Who told you Ys Seven's music was awful? Blasphemers, they were! Everybody loves Ys Seven's music! (:
And I agree with you on the boss themes. Having played Ys III: Wanderers From Ys growing up, I do actually enjoy the Oath boss themes (since they're basically just remixes of those, so they have a certain nostalgia factor to them)... and The Strongest Foe (Ys III/Felghana's final boss theme) is almost undeniably epic... but other than that one, I'd definitely say Ys I & II and Ys Seven have overall better boss themes.
