The story and the graphics drew me in, but the gameplay made me lose all interest. Being forced to run by a possessed mirror while also having to deal with game stutter and imprecise controls is not my idea of a good time. I must have died a dozen times in the infirmary room from the first chapter. I wish someone turned this game into a visual novel so I wouldn't have to deal with the gameplay. I really like the story and the characters, but the action sequences are simply horrible.

Well I have no problem with the gameplay mechanics, controls or the level sequences or whatsoever. It 's almost like a perfect game which I haven't seen in a long time. :)
And what do you mean by "being forced to run by a possessed mirror" ? Anyway, I guess Book of Shadows will satisfy you. :D

Scenes like the infirmary chase are pretty few and far between, too. If you keep at it, I think you'll be overall satisfied -- you'll just have to "put up" with the occasional chase scene every now and again, and then you can get back to enjoying the story (which is very much the meat of the game).

I love how I had to try over 5 times to escape from the ghost boy, but it was a good hard for me, a Dark Souls good.

Everyone has their "Fave GAME" and all! But this game was a MUST BUY for me. I was randomly scrolling around the Japanese PSN store (When I was learning Japanese) and found Corpse Party. I downloaded it because I LOVE to play horror games, then I found out it was a 2D game, which I was a little found of. I didnt complete the DEMO because at that time, I couldnt translate some of it into English. I remember trying to get into the Infirmary in the first chapter. After a few years, probably 1-3 years I return and I got REALLY into the game, SPOILING it BIG TIME for myself by watching ALL the Bad Endings / Wrong endings on youtube and I wanted to go back and download it again, I re-created my Japanese account and I found BoS THERE >:O THEY REMOVED THE DEMO FOR THE FIRST GAME :C
So now, Today, I finally got to buy it from the US store.

Happy its translated in english. But horrible timing (I think) because now I understand Japanese to its fullest. Now playing Chapter 3.

I love how I had to try over 5 times to escape from the ghost boy, but it was a good hard for me, a Dark Souls good.

I really wanted to go for the Best Good ending in the game. But I couldnt get out of that ROOM WITH THE 2nd LEVER.. It was a pain, but I eventually got out of there after shattering the gem thingy.
God... Cant wait for Chapter 3.

Naho's little thing on the doll. I think she knew something about it, and probably wanted Mayu DEAD. Idk why I think this, but she said it.... Even though Ayumi said she thinks it wouldnt do ANYTHING...
I found Naho's little theory off, and Ayumi right for a change...

CP ended up so far with me going AND doing things the characters warn me NOT TO DO.
For example,

Chapter 1 - (The girl that is best friends with Seiko, I forgot her name) said she had a bad feeling about the room. I HAD TO GO IN THERE, because I missed it during my blind playthrough and got a WRONG END.
Carved on the floor.. OR something like that, in the same room said "Dont read the newspaper". I HAD TO. >.>

Chapter 2 - Ayumi wanted to get out of the room with the 2nd Lever with the first encounter with that annoying ghost boy. She said something wasnt right in there.
(HAD TO AGAIN, JUST TO PROGRESS)
- Ayumi said "The doll wont work" or something VERY similar, it didnt do anything much, scared the crap out of her and killed Mayu.
- I think Ayumi said something about the bathroom too. >.> I had to go in there, if i didnt I would be falling down stairs and die by my ribs poking some organ (I think?)

UUUGGGHH.
NOW GOT TO FIGURE OUT CHAPTER 3..

I'm really glad you enjoyed the game that much, it's reeeeeally good. I think I haven't changed my PSN message since Corpse Party was released; it's still "Buy Corpse Party" for all to see. I've even mentioned the game more than a couple of times on my facebook profile, and got a few people to get the game.

I've never heard of someone with control problems before. It works just as well as any other grid based movement system for me.

But like someone else Wyrdwad said, those parts aren't very plentiful. And that's one of the worst ones to me, because the floor likes to throw you into the thing.

Well, I was expecting a pure adventure game or at least one without action sequences and that's why I was a bit disappointed. I might give it another try this summer.
