Keep spelling Ys as Y's!? There is no apostrophe in Ys! Sometimes I feel like smacking them upside the head and making them correct it. Sorry if this has been asked before but I just needed to get this out of my system. *phew*

Because they pronounce it wrong. Seems like a lot of people (maybe even most people) pronounce it "Wise" so they spell it how they think it sounds. "Why's."

Kinda wish they get it right the first time, it's pronouced 'ees' or something like that right?

Its because one of the U.S. releases back in the 90's had a apostrophe in the title.

It's not just limited to the U.S., sadly!

I was going to say, I swore I say it as Y's on a cover somewhere...

Curious if that error is also on the TG16 CD for Ys I & II, since Hudson released that before Dawn of Ys.

IIRC, that error was not on the US release of Ys I and II for the TG-16.

If you go to gamestop.com, you can't find Ark of Napishtim for ps2 unless you put in Y's I believe, haha noobs!
EDIT: I want that soundtrack though! Are any of you familiar with ocremix.org? It's pretty cool, my good friend, halc, does work on there. One of the more recent albums did remixes on underrated games and there was a sweet remix of a track from Dawn of Ys.

Ys is a Japanese-origin computer role-playing game series, and Nihon Falcom Corporation's flagship franchise. It started on the NEC PC-8801 in 1987. Ys titles appear on the MSX2, Sega Master System, Sega Mega Drive, Famicom, Super NES, PC, Playstation 2, PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 CD-ROM, and cellular phone. "Y's" arises from a typographical error in the packaging of the English-language versions of the Sega Master System.

I do believe I was just listening to that remix yesterday! It's this medley of The Dawn of Ys and Bronze District, right?
