If you've played all three Ys games brought over by XSEED, do you have a favorite one?
For me Ys Seven was my favorite followed closely by Oath of Felghana. <3

Chronicles because of the nostalgia of playing Ys 1/2 back in the day

but Ys 7 was pretty awesome with the multiple characters, I liked playing as Dogi and Cruxie.

I enjoyed Felghana too, but aside from it still being very fun like the rest of the games, don't have much else to say about it.

Oath will always hold a special place in my heart.

Doesn't hurt to have the best final boss theme in anything ever.

I've played more of 7, but I'm enjoying oath more.... Ys1 and 2... don't have yet, love the music though, but I don't think that'll make them peak oath.

Ys I and II was alight. The music was good but I got mad about maxing my level really early in the game. >.>

Hmm I think I'll have to go with 7 but Oath follows very close behind. 1/2 are also amazing though so I can't fully make up my mind...

My vote is going to The Oath in Felghana. Do not get me wrong, I do love Ys Seven. It is just the challenge & not being purely stat based makes it seem more fun.

I'm really torn between SEVEN and Oath. On some level I enjoy Oath more (I love the cast) but it really "feels" like a game that should be played on a big screen with a controller; I always feel like the PSP controls (especially that fuggin' slide-nub they call a joystick) are fighting against me when I play. SEVEN isn't quite as interesting but you can definitely tell it was made with the PSP in mind; it rarely feels like I'm actually trying to suplex the handheld when I'm playing. http://www.carpefulgur.com/gallery/emot-v.gif

If we're limiting it to just Ys games on PSP, then definitely Oath for me. I love the field music, the story's pretty good, voice acting's respectable...and it's got Chester.

Oath for me. I just really liked the gameplay style (not to say I & II or Seven are bad, they're all great!) and I think the story and music had a slight edge in that one. All three are great games, though.

I guess I could have said why I chose what I did, huh? : P
For me Ys Seven was the first Ys game on my psp (thus it automatically gets bonus points) However I also liked the battle system better. I liked having a party when I fight. <3 Especially when there's big scary dragons. I mean Adol is pretty epic in the other games but this game just seemed more like an rpg. (since most of my rpgs have party members in them).

Oath for me as well. That game is an absolute masterpiece, and has some of the best dungeon designs I've ever seen.

(Also, I seem to be in the minority that absolutely *loves* the PSP's analog nub, even to the point where I actually prefer it to normal analog sticks... and I almost always play my PSP games via TV-out... so for me, there was nothing at all wrong with the PSP version of the game!)

Don't have Chronicles nor have I touched 7 yet, but Oath will always be my #1 in the series. The original Ys III was the first game I've beaten in the series, and was also the one I was able to replay multiple times without getting bored of it.

Doesn't Oath kind of feel better on a big screen, though? I swear to the Eldeen it feels like I'm trying to put the PSP into a headlock and make it tap out every time I fight a major ("Shock of the Death God"-worthy) boss. That friggin' slide-nub...

Having played the PC version before I knew the PSP version was coming, I can easily say that a bigger screen does make it better. But, so far, with my slow progress on the PSP version, I haven't had too much trouble with the analog nub (then again, I play a LOT of action RPGs on my PSP).

I haven't played my PSP much since finishing off Oath, but I did briefly try Chronicles. I haven't finished Seven yet. Oath is my favorite. I loved the original, even re-played it on my Retro Duo leading up to the release of Oath. One of the best remakes ever, if not the best. Loved it thoroughly.

I really hope we get Ys Seven on PS3, or at least SOMETHING in the franchise!

My vote goes to Felghana. I have replayed it like 4 times because it's way too fun. Though I still can't even beat the first boss in Nightmare >_>

Ys Seven was a breath of fresh air and I found it highly enjoyable.
Ys Chronicles I&II brought back that nostalgia from the TurboGrafxCd days for me and I loved it(and the MUSIC!)
However if I must choose an absolute favorite of the 3....
OAth in Felghana hands down. Between the gameplay, dungeon design,MUSIC and the graphics it was the total package in my opinion.

I'd have to go with Oath by far.

Seven wasn't bad, but I felt that having people in your party with you removed some of the "Adol V.S. the world" feeling that I always loved about Ys. I like single character/solo JRPGs and don't particularly care for having party members.

I blame Dragon Warrior 1.

Favorite Ys will always have to be Ys Origins i'm not sure why but I seem to love Yunica a lot she rules!

Even if that isn't a PSP Ys! lol

I absolutely enjoyed Ys 7 and Oath. I'm also STILL getting through 1 & 2, and I enjoy those for the very reason that these bosses are, in some ways, WAY more difficult than the (gasp!) DS version! Especially a certain boss at the end of Ys 1. He was CAKE in the DS version, due to the humongous platform you could run around on.

I love 1&2 mostly because of the beautiful simplicity, although I kinda miss going to Bagyu Ba'dead (Vageaux Vardette) in the DS version, and for I while I was really confused about not being able to go there. Oh, well.

Since I've only just beaten a certain boss by a nose (and a head!) in the PSP version of this game, there isn't much else I can say... So... Yeah. And yes, I am that dirty prick that got not JUST a certain lady's measurements, but also endured the difficulty of getting someone else's measurements. And believe me, that second one is hard! I got stuck in the corner, and had to reload my game!

Hmmm... Music-wise, I absolutely adored Ys 7. Actually, I'd have to say Ys 7 is hand-down among the best RPGs I've played in a loooong time, not to knock on Oath, 1&2, or TiTS (which I need to start!). I really enjoyed the game, and it was everything I've been dying for in an RPG for a long time.

Also, the absolute Final Boss in Ys 7 truly defines "Big Ugly" for me, which is kinda of a running gag between a friend and I regarding final bosses. There were much epic boss moments to be had throughout the game, indeed! (A certain mid-game segment comes to mind.)

Oath in Felghana was also absolutely GOLDEN for me. Oh, man. The music, the gameplay, the story, the... the... CHESTER!!! Also, the final boss wins a prize for Hammiest Boss Ever! Not to mention the guy has earned a special nickname of my own choosing (I call him LOLbalan), and despite all his "Giant Ham" moments in battle, he's really tough! So, that justifies it, I guess.

Unlike 1&2 Chronicles, I feel like the difficulty of the bosses in Oath was much more balanced. Meaning, I felt like the battles were more of skill and patience, rather than luck (That means YOU, Vagullion!) and occasional well-guessed blasts of Fire Magic.

Uhm, but, I'm really undecided as to which of the three PSP Games is my favorite! Can I just be a derp, and say I love all of them equally? Really? OK! THANKS!

.......and that is all I've got to say. For now, that is.

Also: We need real spoiler tags. BADLY.

I've only played two of the games so far, but Oath has to be my favorite. The gameplay, the music, the characters, and just about everything else seemed to come together for a really good game, even if I got my butt kicked a lot on those boss fights.

Hey, WanderingMind! I admit to still being unable to beat that first boss in Oath without dying and re-starting at a lower difficulty! Hahaha..... yeah.

All the rest I beat WITH MY OWN SWEAT AND BLOOD... except that first guy. Ugh.

I hear you. That first boss was tough.

I think I might be one of the few people who defeated the final boss on their first try. I still don't know how I pulled it off, because I almost died near the beginning, recovered most of my health, and dodged all of his attacks like crazy.

I hate you. It took me FIVE TRIES to beat him. That, of course, didn't stop me from being massively entertained! I love how he goes, "D'oh!" every time he gets hit. I'm sorry. I just love him. Priceless in so many ways, and tough to beat, too!

Favorite PSP Ys game? That's easy.

Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim. Simply because it was the first Ys PSP title I picked up (to complement my PS2 copy), and because the soundtrack is great. Unfortunately, that's all Ys VI PSP has going for it, since it was a lackluster port. Dem load times, meng.

If I'm only limited to XSEED's releases, then it's Felghana, since it's the only one of the three I picked up. That, and it's like a peanut butter cup, except made with Ys III and Ys VI instead of chocolate and peanut butter.

It just isn't the same as when I played the PC version, though, since I replaced the boss themes with Mighty Obstacle. Made the fights a lot more fun, in my opinion.

My favorite of the four Ys games on PSP is definitely Oath in Felghana. Falcom really did a number on Ys III. They took the Ark engine and made the action more versatile, they took cool music and turned it awesomely rich and powerful, they crafted elaborate deathtrap dungeons of doom, and they loaded the game with segments so challenging that even a FAQ can't replace skill! Even the way Felghana starts, with Adol saving Elena from a pack of wolves (instead of simply walking up to her house), rules. It's an absolutely incredible game that shattered the lofty expectations I always have for Ys.

Oath in Felghana was awesome--amazing music, and freakishly hard bosses that are somehow still not frustrating (and it's so satisfying when I finally beat them). Ys Seven was great as well, though I do enjoy the whole platforming thing Felghana has going for it. Being able to jump and bunny-hop everywhere you go is so much fun. =P

Ooooh...difficult question to answer. Each of the Ys releases has something about it that I like a lot, usually more than with the others. Ys SEVEN, Oath, Chronicles...All great games. If I HAD to choose a favorite, I'd say Ys SEVEN was my favorite, but I'd much rather say that they were all three equal in my eyes. I know that may be a bit of a cop-out answer, but hey, that's how I feel about 'em. :)

For me, it's between Oath and Seven. I played Chronicles, but it wasn't much "fun" to play...no strategy, just killing enemies by running into them with my face :)

Anyways, I'd probably go with Seven because of the 3 party system. I liked how each character had a unique weapon style and abilities that affected the flow of combat. Also the major plot twist was nice ;)

After playing Ark of Napishtim, I have to say that Seven and Oath of Felghana have been major improvements. I'll have to finish Oath before settling on a favorite; and I hope to pick up Chronicles in the near future.

The PSP Go adds support for Bluetooth connectivity, enabling the use of compatible Bluetooth headsets and tethering with Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones. This also enables users to connect and play games using a Sixaxis or DualShock 3 PlayStation 3 controller or Bluetooth Headset.

Yeah, it'd work with pretty much every game. And the necessary cables CAN be had for not-ridiculous prices. AND I do own a PS3 already, so the controller is sorted.

The proper answer to all this would be to release the PC version of Oath on digidistro, though. http://www.carpefulgur.com/gallery/emot-v.gif

Oath is my favorite out of the PSP Ys, but also my favorite overall. It probably has to do that it was my first experience with Y's so it does have some kind of special place in my heart. But I really do love all the Ys games that I've played. Seven was amazing and had really amazing boss battles. Chronicles I'm still playing it, I finished Ys 1, and haven't started Ys II yet, but I'm enjoying Chronicles too. Playing it definately takes me back to when I was a kid, and I like that feeling a lot

I feel the exact same way. I think it has to do with the fact that you can just button/bump mash your way through most enemies in Seven and Chronicles, giving it a fast-action pace, while in Felghana you actually had to maneuver around a bit more. Bosses were great all around though.

I'd have to go with Ys I & II as my fav, the nostalgia factor is huge since this was the first Ys game I played way back on the Sega Master System. Plus imo the music is overall the best of the series, can't think of one track for I & II that I didn't like.

The wife always looks at me in a strange way when I bust out the soundtrack in the car... which I should probably avoid now that I think about it since some of them give me the urge to ram into things. >.>

Though I still REALLY enjoy bumping in 1&2, and the party / special moves in Seven, I'd probably say Oath, just 'cause of the gameplay engine. It's why I generally favor Ys 6, Oath, and Origins, in the series. While Oath is my favorite, all the others are still very close.

After reading this thread I decided that it would be absolutely necessary to buy Oath of Felghana and Seven. Today, at GameStop, I saw that while the regular edition of Oath was $29.95, the Premier Edition (new as well) was only $19.95. Ys SEVEN, by far. I love action RPGs that play like dungeon crawlers. The story and characters are interesting as well (I like bratty princesses who can get off their duff and do stuff). Oath in Felghana was a good game, too, but the jumping actually got annoying and it felt a bit too linear for my tastes.

My favorite out of the PSP games so far is Oath in Felghana, it had both the button mashing hack and slash and the exploration. It was really fun, I like Seven as well but I grew up with III's story and am more familiar with it. I think once I pick up I & II chronicles that will be my top favorite because those had the best storyline IMO.
