While I haven't the foggiest idea how good or bad the game itself is until it's out, what I find most appealing about the game so far is just how great the soundtrack is, particularly given the hardware and the contributors to the soundtrack. There are two composers here, Nobuo Uematsu (with all of 2 tracks to his name, the first and last ones) and Tsutomu Narita. Now if you're sitting there and saying, "Narita who?" you aren't alone. There's a reason why that name doesn't ring a bell: this is his first primary soundtrack composition after a few submitted contributions to other albums. And with how awesome this soundtrack is, I feel that his career at 27 could be going places.

It's difficult to label his overall style in this soundtrack because he jumps all over the place with soothing Celtic at times and upbeat rock at others, but the impression I got is he's a little bit of a mix of Noriyuki Iwadare, Yasunori Mitsuda, and Yuzo Koshiro. What I can say with much greater confidence is that this soundtrack, despite weighing in at only 20 tracks, has in quality exceeded the quantity in spades. For those of you yearning for a more traditional OST and not the J-pop-laden tracks we've been getting of late, you'll find this to be a great throwback (or at least I did)!

Can't say I have a particular favorite because it all sounds really good but maybe there's one you prefer. Check out the soundtrack over at http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL06E9CCCC66A827B0

If I do recall, Narita has worked with several big names, including Yoko Shinomura. He's had a hand in Xenoblade, Final Fantasy XIV, The Last Story and The 3rd Birthday, I believe. Quite a resume!

I prefer hard rock, my wife prefers the oldies. We both liked this.
