ZeikTheGeek and I are hosting a Livestream event of the original PC-98 version of CORPSE-PARTY around 7 P.M. EST today!

Countdown To CORPSE-PARTY [PC-98] (http://www.7is7.com/otto/countdown.html?year=2012&month=04&date=01&hrs=19&ts=12&tz=local&min=00&sec=0&lang=en&show=hms&mode=r&cdir=down&bgcolor=%23FFFFFF&fgcolor=%23000000&title=Countdown%20To%20CORPSE-PARTY%20%5BPC-98%5D)

To quote what Kira said:

For those who don't know, there's technically two iterations of Corpse Party, the original PC98 game released in the 90s and the newer one (BloodCovered) released for Windows PC and PSP. And there's some key differences between them. The primary thing most people will immediately see is that there's only the main five characters (Ayumi, Satoshi, Naomi, Yoshiki and Yuka), meaning there's no Ms. Yui, Mayu, Morishige or Seiko. There's also some character differences and a few endings that have no PSP equivalent. (I'm going to be a huge tease here and say that there's one ending that is VERY interesting about Ayumi).

Naturally there is also a host of different events that happen in the PC98 game that don't happen in the PSP, also Sachiko takes an overall more active and sadistic role in the game than she did in the PSP (Making her closer to her Book of Shadows self than her Blood Covered self).
Be sure to join us on our livestream at http://www.livestream.com/kiralp at 7 P.M. EST to see the original CORPSE-PARTY in English for the very first time!

Also the fan game should also be released within the next week to give us enough time to fix any bugs or typos. But if we don't see any, it may be released tomorrow for the public.

Hope to see you there~! =D

No Seiko, no Shizuka. I will watch it if I'm online by then, though.

I'd like to point out that a major reason we translated PC98 Corpse Party is due to the fact that:

1. It's a REALLY good game. And Naomi is a much more interesting character in it than she was in the PSP game. Same with Satoshi.
2. ALL the fangames(Cross Fear, Zero, If, etc.) are based off the PC98 game. And there's enough changes to where it wouldn't make sense
to go from the PSP game to the fan games due to these differences.
3. It's Corpse Party history.

So yes, there may be some of our favorite characters missing(I'd love to see Morishige in PC98), but it still stands on its own and I feel the characters that are there are actually stronger due to the increased focus on them.

Don't worry, I do get the charm of the original, that's why I'll watch the stream if I can.

It'd be nice to get that little clock that shows how much time remaining until it starts, I don't do well with different timezones.

Per suggestion by Shizuka, here is a countdown clock @ Countdown To CORPSE-PARTY [PC-98] (http://www.7is7.com/otto/countdown.html?year=2012&month=04&date=01&hrs=19&ts=12&tz=local&min=00&sec=0&lang=en&show=hms&mode=r&cdir=down&bgcolor=%23FFFFFF&fgcolor=%23000000&title=Countdown%20To%20CORPSE-PARTY%20%5BPC-98%5D)

I can't wait to see! Maybe in the fanfic I'm doing with my friend we can merge in some stuff from this game! Also is there any new aspects from the PSP and PC games that they primarily focus on? Like say there's more going on with the Anatomical Model than in the newer games.

I was watching the normal Corpse Party, then I had to go to BK. I'll see if it's still online.

Hope to see you there!

As far as the release date goes, I see nothing keeping it from a weekish away from final release. Just gotta make sure nothing is horribly broken. We're still playing by ear, though!

I'll fund the project to include full voice acting. Needs more british.

If this is for PC-98: Does it run adequately well on Anex?

If this is for Windows: Will it run on 64-bit Windows 7?

Will I still need to switch my OS' region settings to Japanese to prevent the text from being glitched?

ZeikTheGeek

It should run fine on all versions of Windows. And as far as I know, it shouldn't require JP region due to the custom font it uses, but we'll playtest it beforehand to make sure it runs on as many system properly as possible.

Huh, I thought it would be neat if you were actually translating the PC-98 floppy disk image--which I know is possible--but the Win version does have improvements.

Possible, but infuriating due to how the PC98's script lines aren't sequential(they are scattered across random files within the same scene/conversation). The only diference between the games is the art. And Kedwin is not an artist at all. Despite this, Enigmao has previously expressed interest in doing the PC98 version anyways, but I have a feeling it's far down the list of priorities. The only reason to do the PC98 version at all is for the sake of completionism. Which may not be worth just how difficult it would be to tackle the unfriendly script system. However the script is now 100% translated. If someone else wants to insert our script(peferably with permission) into the PC98 game, they can.

Too bad I missed it. I loved the final battle theme. It's only a couple of hours long if I recall, yes?
