You as I was playing this game yesterday I realized that this is one of the few games I've played where I actually enjoy going into town and talking to all the NPCs. Anybody with me on this?

Yup, every time, they've all got really great personalities and dialogue. I spend a lot of time just traveling around town making sure no one else has anything new to say as I don't want to miss any hilariousness. I loved doing the same thing in Lunar SSH as well actually.

I enjoyed the NPCs in this game as well. About as much as I did with Lunar and Grandia series' NPC talks. :D

Who were your favorite NPCs? For me, it was definitely Helmuth and Norche in Grancel City -- the guy obsessed with fishing, and his wife obsessed with her husband always being away fishing. (: I loved how that whole little sub-plot developed, and even captured footage of each and every one of their lines being spoken, to use in an "NPC trailer" that -- unfortunately -- never wound up happening.

But yeah... I thought they were lovable and interesting enough to be worthy of their own trailer, so clearly, I really enjoyed speaking with those two. (:

I also quite liked the couple going on a pilgrimage across Liberl -- Seagaro and Edel, I believe were their names. It was interesting to go through practically the entire game assuming Edel was just a shopaholic... and then learning the truth about her in Grancel City! (:

It's hard to pinpoint to some favorites, but I'd have to say the NPCs that left an impression on me were almost all of the NPCs in the Royal Academy. Particularly during the festival, they gave me a nice heart-warming feel. Plus, I've ALWAYS been a sucker for the school atmosphere and student life. The student council were the best. :D

Ah yes! Jill and Hans are favorites of one of our translators, too. They're pretty darned awesome, to be sure. (:

.....the guy obsessed with fishing

Lloyd? He makes several appearances in the other games, too. :D There's a great illustration of him from the title of 3rd's fishing minigame, as well. I'll have to find it.

Not him (though he's cool too!). I'm talking Helmuth -- the guy who lives in the house nearest to the castle at Grancel.

OH. Right. I'll see him when I get to Grancel again, then!! :D

I'm not past Rolent yet, but the NPCs are definitely a highlight of the game. Lita the maid and the Mayor's Wife are really sweet, and Claire the "reporter" is hilarious.

I can't really pick just one favorite myself. All the characters in Rolent, most of the academy, and for some reason that sous chef in Bose who was working her way up

My favourite NPC is the girl that her cat was lost. I'm in Chapter 1 so I can't change my favourite NPC.

Okay, I found this thread again! (Yes, I had trouble finding a thread called "NPCs") :P

Anywho, I wanted to mention that I really loved the two kids from Bose that were sitting outside the Market, Harry and Mina. Harry was the boy who had dreams of becoming a merchant, and Mina was the one always beside him, shooting those dreams down. As the chapter went on, Harry was gaining a lot more confidence, and Mina was being more supportive. I found it cute.

I don't think I disliked any of the child NPCs, when I think about it. The Rolent kids, the orphans, the lonely girl in Ruan whose parents were tourist guides, all of them! They were all pretty believable children, and also really cute without being really obnoxious.

...I'm getting deja vu here. Did you post this same exact response in another thread or something? Because I could swear I've read it, virtually word for word, like a week ago...

In your profile comments, LOL. I posted it there in-case I couldn't find this thread again. I found it by chance tonight. :P

My favorite NPCs are:

~ Rolent: Yuni and Fate (I love their father-daughter relationship :3)
~ Bose: Cecile and Kuwano (Those two are hilarious because they kept on fighting for nonsense -.-')
~ Bose: Harry and Mina (Because of the two of them, I was inspired to create a story about a boy with big dreams while his childhood friend, a girl, who has a humble personality ^_-).
~ Ruan: The three tourists: Randall, Radford and Muriel (because the hilarious part wherein a junior bracer from Ruan had to find Randall's dentures..XD). Also, the girl from the Jenis Academy named Purity who loved books so much! :)
~ Ruan (Jenis Royal Academy): Purity (She's a bookworm :3), Mickey (the guy who slacks off during the festival...), and Reina & Felicity (those two often argue hilariously XD).
~ Zeiss: Yuriel, Ursus and Louise (Yuriel and Louise lives beside the Russell house, while Ursus works at the bar. Yuriel's such a bratty sister, but of course she DOES care for her sister who's an engineer...while Ursus...-.-). Tita's grandfather, Professor Russell is so funny! especially when he joked about Agate's hair looking-like a chicken! ^o^
~ Grancel: Martin, Marian and their daughter Helena (the mother and daughter are always complaining about their father's wishes...or so I think...:S).

Also, I love those traveling NPCs (who are Edel and Seagaro...Seagaro is this faithful guy who loves going to church while Edel is a shopaholic...I didn't even know she owns the Edel Department Store).

Hans, that awesome pervert.

Oh yeah, and Professor Russell is a really funny old guy who still has the energy of an adolescent. Something about his vast intellect that makes me really respect him.

I love the female mayor the most. She looks way too young to be a mayor, not to mention having that restaurant.

Mayor Maybelle, by the fact that she inherited her status and wealth from her father, also makes it difficult to determine the writers' political agenda as we have quite a mixed presentation of hereditary and elected leaders. I suppose it would be possible to perceive a general support of democracy, as Estelle comments that Mayor Klauss was chosen by the people as opposed to Ruan's unelected villain, but the Queen and Maybelle undermine the clarity of the the message.

I'm sure a paper could be written on the subject at any rate. ;)
