View Full Version : Are Trails in the Sky SC and TC also being considered for steam?

Xseed applying for distribution via steam opens up a lot of possibilities. Such as:

But what about Trails in the Sky SC and TC? It would end all of this uncertainty regarding the games and whether or not they will ever see a release outside of Japan.

I would still like to see them on the PSP... but I guess I would not be opposed to this, assuming that I get to transfer my save file from the PSP version of FC to SC.
I think that Tom mentioned Steam as a possibility, either way,

The uncertainty comes from the sheer amount of time (and thus money and resources) needed to localize these titles. A lot can go wrong when you spend 2+ years localizing a single game, after all, and even the best of efforts can crash and burn when the project is that massive.
Release format is honestly of secondary concern to us. A translated and edited script could be plugged into the PC version of SC just as easily as it could the PSP version, after all.
For now, all we can do is reaffirm that we're doing our best, and that we haven't given up. Rest assured, the good fight is being fought -- there's just a long way to go before the day is won. ;)

I'm glad to hear that the war effort hasn't completely demoralised you. On the other hand, I'm surprised to hear that the release format is a secondary concern. I've seen plenty of companies passing up on games simply because the consoles there were based on had been phased out. Most companies, including Sony themselves, had given up on the PSP even before the NGP (PSVita) was first announced. Nevertheless, your dedication is that of a samurai and I hope you will succeed in releasing these two most revered games.

Well, like I said, there always exists the PC version as a fallback -- but neither one can get released if we don't have a translation done.

Are you doing the same process you used to translate FC? Or are you doing anything different based on experience of localizing the first one?

I could tell you... but then I'd have to kill you. ;)

I was afraid of that, if I die then I can't play them....

Well, there is a good chance that you might die waiting for the game anyways. X3 Might as well take the risk.
Naw, I am kidding. :3 It's not like you guys are Valve...

Lol, well that's true, I think that things will work out. People are extremely stoked for this and like Tom said, it is being worked on!
