Harder to catch Platinum alligator Gar versus "regular" Alligator Gar?

The last few days I've been trying to catch a Platinum Gar in the Mangrove pool. I occasionally hook a regular Gar and seem able to land those, but the Platinum Gar breaks me off so far. Is there really any difference in these fish?

Yeah, there is a sizable increase in difficulty between the Platinum Alligator Gar and the regular alligator gar. Just use a "stop and go" reeling technique. Reel until your character jerks the rod back, let the line slack slightly, and repeat. If the tension goes into the orange range, let the line slack some more and repeat this strategy. It should work.

Finally got him last night! Now I've got my Titan/Infinity gear. Where to go next? The King of Herrings would be fun, or a white Sturgeon.

Nice! I would start out with the King of Herrings. IMHO, it is the easiest out of the 3 large "land" fish to catch.
