Have you heard of that law?

Imagine all the damage it could do to the forums. People just throw pictures without taking care or not if there's a copyright on it...

You should know by now, I'm not a bot ^^

Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA).

It's pretty dumb. I don't think it'll pass. If it does, well I don't know. I guess people will get mad and throw chairs.
Probably step one for when China buys the United States, if this happens.

I just hope the USA won't let China buy them...seriously what will that do to canada after that... Imagine, the USA people won'T let that slide, and it's going to be world war 3, so let's just hope that's not happening.

People can be so foolish, always more and more........ Can't we just live in peace?

But what if we get used to peace, and then an alien civilization attacks and since we've all turned to hippies, we lose and all become slaves, never to play video games again? J/K

Anyways, I don't think it'll pass either. Way too many problems will arise if it does.

I hope this does not pass...

I also have seen XSEED on various lists of companies that support this. I REALLY hope that this is not true... :(

^ Really? Can someone more knowledgeable than me post a list of pros and cons of this bill. It just seems to me that although it'll be easier for somebody to protect their IP, it also seems that sites will have to completely shut down and could be sued if somebody does so, which means youtube and reviews sites would be shut down if one person made a complaint. Am I misunderstanding?

That is about how it looks, basically.

Yeah this better not pass or we'll be one step closer to becoming China 2

This is a wonderful example of how Congress cares more about the money that they make from lobbyists than they do making sound decisions that are good for this country (or in this case, the entire world).

Frankly, this law would go further than just making the US like China. The law would also impact other countries because of where all the DNS servers are located - in the US, or in countries where the US has a ton of influence. The European Union has actually sent a letter to congress (http://euletter-sopa-pipa.tumblr.com/post/14113460718/final-letter-with-signatures) urging them not to pass it because of the international ramifications this law would have.

I'm not confident it will pass (fortunately) because the Senate and House will probably just rewrite the thing over and over. And I'd hope that if it did manage to get to Obama, he would veto it, but he's signed some questionable bills so I'm not sure.

Letting corporations control censorship of the Internet is a terrible idea. XSEED's whole site could be shut down because someone on the forums links to a copyrighted youtube video (say, a song from a game), or even a copyrighted picture. It's that ridiculous.

This is a nation-wide riot waiting to happen, I wouldn't want to live in the US on the day this is passed.

This is a nation-wide riot

I just hope there will really be one if that really happens! If not, they will prove the countrymen love to be ignored

Most people don't even know about this, and they probably don't understand enough to care even if it did pass. The media corporations that are trying to rush this through Congress are the same ones that should be informing people about it.

So I don't think there would be riots. Some discontent, but people are already discontent about a lot of things. The biggest problem with things like OWS is that people aren't unified, plus the media was easily able to silence them by making the entire thing out to be a big joke. Once people are unified in their frustration, they'll be a lot more dangerous.

yeah, I like how bombing the crap out of other countries for no good reason is part of the "defense" budget

It's certainly up there, but yeah that's the bill I had in mind when referring to Obama signing questionable ones. Only reason he was against the bill at all was because of the lack of executive power. Urgh. Makes me sick. Would love to move out of this country.

Even if SOPA were to hypothetically pass, it's impossible to enforce this law. China has about the largest possible censorship out there (well, other than maybe Iran's own internal Internet), yet Chinese manage to circumvent their censorship at every corner.

It's funny how we saw google this morning in Quebec, they say they want to expand here....will they completely come here if that law passes? Imagine how much USA would lost with that O_o

Not sure why any of you are surprised, Kojima already predicted this in MGS2. The la-li-lu-le-lo and wisemen's committee are unstopable now.

Just let your minds sleep and do not worry about freedoms! "they" will control everything for you and those that are outside of the US it will just be a matter of time, the States is just the beta test guinea pigs for total media mindshare and control projects like this :)

War-torn parts of Africa don't represent every country that's not America, just a heads-up there.

It's funny because this is how the world outside America is described by some people. Due to the way I always heard US and other countries described when I was little, I didn't even know other countries had cars or electricity until I was around 10 or 11 years old. People always talked about all the things we have and take for granted. Apparently they meant things like more akin to Chrono Trigger than running water and cable TV.

It's because of all those war-torn countries make more headlines, with pictures that make the place look terrible to live in. When I was young, my mother and sister-in-law always tell me back in Vietnam they had no food to eat. I grew up they say the same thing. I visited last summer and the families gave me food every hour of every day, and I got very sick of it. I don't really like to eat, until I'm very hungry to the point my stomach growls.

I was also told they had few vehicles and boy...landed in Ho Chi Minh(Saigon they call it, I prefer what it says on the map ;D). Vehicles flooded the streets to the point you can walk as fast as cars and motorbikes were everywhere. Either over-exaggerated or they were living in the past, as they visited Vietnam so many times before.

I blame the adults and media misinterpretation of countries. :(
Which goes back to the media trying to control everyone.

"The U.S. just wants people to think their the best and they can provide everything for their people and the other countries." That comment came from a person I met in the US who I randomly talked to. I'm maybe blame the goverment but I focus on the media thats telling us lies. Visit the Dominican Republic yeah its rather bad in there but the media puts it like its a lot worse. They all had food to spare and that food was used to feed the less fortunate. Why don't they make a headline about that?

Apparently the media and some of the people(?) care more about the negatives than the positives. They always look on the negative to criticize. It could also be whichever story sells more, which is most likely story on negative side of things.

bump due hackers,
well, stoping piracy i understand the idea, but its a foolish rule, but may as well stop hackers doing harsh crap to others, that would be more sensible >>
other then that, i noticed some sharing web sites being shut down, mostly megavideo.. tad a pity, since as example some shows i cant order so i watch it online.
if its legal or not, i wonder, sometimes i feel tad bad about it, but, if amazon or e bat or what ever would have the movies/shows i fancied, i wouldnt bother watching them online :P
