Who hasn't played or at least heard of Pok?©mon? It's a huge franchise known throughout the world. But what about Nobunaga's Ambition? It's also a long running series which takes place during the Sengoku period of feudal Japan and tasks the player with achieving the ultimate goal of warlord Oda Nobunaga: the conquest and unification of Japan. Now imagine these two titles combined... what you get is a crossover that is set to confuse and awe gamers worldwide.
Pok?©mon + Nobunaga’s Ambition will allow players to select either a male or female protagonist, and that character, regardless of gender, will start off with an Eevee. They will be accompanied by a female character named Oichi, and she will aid the main protagonist with her Jigglypuff. More Pokemon can presumably be captured during the course of the game. The main character will do battle with warlords that are assisted by the likes of legendary Pokemon Mewtwo, Zekrom, Articuno, and Groudon. Gameplay will play out via a turn-based system – with the main objective being to defeat the enemies that dare get in your way.
Even more important is the fact that the game is being developed for the Nintendo DS.

Probably the most unusual thus far, though I'm expecting Japan to exceed this at some point in the future. It's too bad it's coming out on the DS, which means we probably won't get it here. But it sounds so...odd that maybe that's for the best. :P

The art is pretty nice; the combination is pretty crazy. I'm interested enough to keep tabs on this game. Wonder how it'll turn out. XD
Looks tactical RPG-esque, from the screens.

It has to be localized, and I'll most likely buy it.

I'll get it, how bad could it possibly be right? RIGHT?!

Anyway this is hopefully the step forward to my long-standing, impossible dream of a 3D Pokemon main RPG entry (it's not).

I don't think it's going to be bad. Both Koei and Nintendo are working together, I doubt it'll suck (or that it won't get localized). I just need the confirmation for the localization of this one and Ni No Kuni, and I'll be getting Solatorobo, those two games and Devil Survivor 2 next year. The DS is far from dead!

Its pokemon. I haven't heard of a pokemon game that HASN'T been localized.

Try Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness (Colosseum's sequel). They pretty much are a 3D Pokemon adventure that tries to give the series the traditional RPG feel. Like, what I mean to say is, instead of going out collecting badges and pokemon to become the best trainer ever, and having a huge emphasis on multiplayer what with the trading and battling, the game tries to go with a more traditional RPG feel by giving you a decent storyline with a more serious feel to it and eliminating wild pokemon almost entirely, leaving you with only the shadow pokemon you can catch from other trainers (which is still quite a large amount so theres bound to be pokemon you will like).

As for my thoughts on this game, I was severely underwhelmed that game freaks new exciting announcement was a spin-off yet again....(I still get mad about the mewtwo event + pokepark 2 announcement). However, I am still intrigued in that we are finally getting a pokemon SRPG. I always kind of wanted this so this might end up with me thinking that this is a good pokemon spin-off, like mystery dungeon. Kinda lame that Eevee is your starter...I was hoping for something mystery dungeon-esque where you can choose from ALL the starter pokemon to be your starter and you can choose your partner from the rest of the available starter pokemon (which is pre-determined as well here, a girl with a jigglypuff). Also I've yet to see any of my favorite pokemon in the screens =/ but oh well. If they decide to localize it (I am almost sure they will), I'll definitely get it.

Try Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness (Colosseum's sequel).

Actually I mean just keeping the same basic concepts from the handheld games and moving it to a console with a full on graphics re-haul. The exploration alone would be marvelous. I know a lot of people hate the idea but it's one I've wanted to see happen since G/S/C came out.

Indeed it was =]
Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness are pretty up there on my list of favorite Pokemon games.

I'm not against that idea, but I believe Game Freak would seriously have its work cut out with this. There would be a ton of stuff they would have to do to make it work aside from the obvious big one that they have 649 pokemon to work with. I would also assume a game of this magnitude would include more than just one region, a few multiplayer modes, and battling pokemon. Also on the other hand, game freak lives off handheld titles while releasing minor ones on consoles or the 3D simulators (like Pokemon Battle Revolution), so convincing them for the full on console mainstream pokemon title would be kind of hard.

If there was a Pocket Monster Hunter, I'd totally buy it or try it out.
Though I still want a new Pokemon Snap or something. :(

Yeah, that's why I hold it as an impossible dream; why would they break the formula of something that has proven to work time and time again? I just think it would be the greatest thing, and if there's one company that can afford to adventure and splurge on the idea... it's them.

Also, seconding Pokemon Snap 2. I wasted so much of my youth with the first :I

I think we might be able to anticipate a main 3D Pokemon game in the near future, after the inevitable Gray version, at least. Pokedex 3D has some really nice 3D models for the 5th Gen Pokemon, and they are very fluid as well--I doubt GameFreak will waste them only on a free download. Of course, I'm also implying that this would be on the 3DS, not a home console, but hey, a 3D game is a 3D game.
