Hello XSEED! I kind of posted this on your Facebook wall aswell but thought this deserved it's own thread. ahem.

~Introduction~
Spirit Camera is a spin off to the Fatal Frame series that is stated to be released in Japan for Nintendo 3DS on January 12th 2012, developed by Tecmo/Tecmo-Koei and published by Nintendo.
Fatal Frame is a survival horror series that has been ongoing since 2001 with the first release on PS2.
Spirit Camera is the latest installment for 3DS and makes use of the AR in the 3DS system combined with a notebook released with the game.

Fatal Frame 1, 2 and 3 were all localized world wide by different publishing companies, the fourth game however was only published by Nintendo in Japan, and no-one else would pick it up - fans and demand eventually released a translation patch because of the amount of fans who wanted to play the game.

~What is Spirit Camera~

This is all the information known about the latest installment so forth.
Releasing in Japan on January 12th, the game will be published again by Nintendo, and so far Tecmo and Nintendo haven't announced any other publisher for a worldwide release. (An unlikely outcome due to the previous installment...)
The game plays with a camera that can hurt ghosts and paranormal activity, the 3DS version seems to play in a first person perspective using your environment around you to display ghosts and objects.

~Why XSEED should pick this game~
Because there is actually a strong following with the Fatal Frame series, whilst it is indeed obscure and not as demanding as the RPG fans, it is still a game worth looking into, as Fatal Frame IV was demanded so much that when no publisher wanted to localize the game, the fans decided to translate the game itself, the game is a hit in Japan, and survival horror enthusiasts would love this game, it would increase the amount of serious games for the 3DS at current moment, and would bring another original survival horror game into the West that isn't just another zombie rehash and is actually scary.

~Conclusion~

So what do people think? This would be amazing for every party included, Fatal Frame is such an enthralling series. XSEED Games is such an amazing company to me as they localize games I never thought I'd be able to play!

I do hope it gets localized but I sadly won't get it because I don't own a 3DS.

I have been a huge fan since I first played the second one, I do know that to every survival horror fan I have conversed with, this game has popped into conversation.
I have played the fourth game and it is such a shame it wasn't localized anywhere outside of Japan, it's a true gem and really scary!

Yes, please XSEED, localize this game! American Fatal Frame fans have been deprived of a game in the series for six years now! We didn't get the fourth game in the series at all. It would be absolutely amazing if you would release this game! I have purchased other games published by you including "Retro Game Challenge" and "Ivy the Kiwi?" and you did an amazing job with those, I'm sure you could do an amazing job with this as well! Thanks for your time.

I'm dying to play this! Please, please, please bring this over!
I love the first 3 Fatal Frame games, and I hope other games in the series will be localized too. It's bad enough I never got to play the 4th installment.

A'hem.

Some pictures of this game terrify me in the non-traditional Fatal Frame way. I would buy it if it ever got here but I don't think I'd ever be able to play it, honestly. I'm a giant chicken at the end of the day.

Whether it gets localized or not, I will do everything within my power to play this game, even if it means importing a Japanese 3DS (which I'd probably do anyways, for many other games :P). Aside from being an avid Im@s fanboy, I am also an avid Fatal Frame fanboy. Looking forward to getting my hands on it, either way. ;]

I would love to play this game, and it would be a title to make the purchase of the 3DS much easier. :3

And did nobody really want to pick up Fatal Frame IV? Not like it matters, since knowing Nintendo, they would not allow it anyways; and that is what I always thought happened. :/

@Ivy - There is no courage, I just love being spooked! XD Actually, the thing that draws me to Fatal Frame the most are the talk about the rituals and all that stuff, in the files. I find the rituals and village / house / family back-stories really compelling. The love of being spooked is secondary. :)

@Dusty Starr - I think Fatal Frame has a bigger fan-base than one would expect, considering how fast 4 sold out almost everywhere, once the fan-translation patch came out. Good thing I bought it on launch, haha, cause those ebay prices are really stupid. :P

I know they are. :( I wish I could have nabbed one...

Also, speaking of being spooked, I am not sure why, but I find it odd that the original Fatal Frame scared me more than any Silent Hill title, except maybe 3. X3 Just... something spooky about this series. Thank god for my dim lamp that does not cause a glare...

Haha, I felt the same way. I think Silent Hill made me smile more as I was playing it, 'cause I kind of have a little too much fun beating things down with blunt objects (That is just my personal sadistic streak in games though)... XD

I think Fatal Frame worked on my nerves a little more because I didn't know when a vengeful spirit would appear, or one of those regular blue aura'd ones that you just take pics of, for extra points. In fact, I'm pretty sure the ones that DIDN'T attack me scared me the most. :P
And those decrepit houses you are stuck in. Even if the series had no ghosts, those places would still creep the heck outta me. >_<

Both series gave me some pretty good scares though. I think even the not-so-scary series in the genre can get me too... All in various ways. :D

Really wish this wasn't a Nintendo published product so that XSEED had a chance to work on this, it looks great.

You make it sound like it's impossible.

I'm fairly certain if it was, someone would have localized Fatal Frame 4.

Shizuka

That's Nintendo for you, they're both really good at publishing (as to localizing games other companies wouldn't) and really bad as well (by not localizing games other companies would love to work with).

Well this thread can be closed. Nintendo's announced that they've picked the game up.

WAIT NO IT CAN'T (not yet)

I HAVE SOMETHING TO REPLY TO THAT IS NO LONGER RELEVANT!

@Ivy - There is no courage, I just love being spooked! XD Actually, the thing that draws me to Fatal Frame the most are the talk about the rituals and all that stuff, in the files. I find the rituals and village / house / family back-stories really compelling. The love of being spooked is secondary.

I went through a phase when I would be having an average day and my boredom/curiosity would peak at night when I couldn't sleep so I thought, "what better a thing to put me to sleep than reading Fatal Frame lore?!" and all those hours invested in the Wiki always left me scared/spooked/a baby. So everything kind of goes back to square one in the end for me with these games, there is no secondary for it is all the same.

Ivy's post right now is exactly why I bought Corpse Party. The scare was secondary but now I'm afraid of scissors. I can touch and hold them but when people keep snipping them for no reason it makes a chill go down my spine.
