Also, I don't see what's so bad about a guy playing Hakuoki. At its heart, it's a slightly paranormal action/swordplay tale set in feudal Japan that just HAPPENS to have some romance in it too. It's not the only focus. Maybe girls are just more used to playing the opposite gender? XD I mean, until Natsume saw fit to translate the girl versions of Harvest Moon games, and Marvelous saw fit to make HM with gender options from the get-go, I was stuck playing as a guy romancing girls and it was no big. xD Ah well, different strokes I suppose.

when i finished college and started working I've had much less time for video gaming and in this period till this day only 3 games managed to keep me playing them 6 hrs a day and they are: Demon's Souls, Dark Souls and Corpse Party.

seriously i thank the person in Xseed that was responsible for this game getting picked up whoever he is he knows something about masterpieces when he sees them.

although Corpse Party has some flaws it's good points cover for that (story, setting, dialogue, atmosphere, music and CGs) this game shine in all. IMO Corpse Party deserves (10/10) i haven't seen such a good horror game since the days of games like Juggernaut, clock tower 1-2 and etc

Well I have no idea why I even wanted CP,I figured it looked scary enough id try it out,the gameplay isnt my preference so I was hesitant in regards to that but when I played it I was so happy I bought it,most "horror" games dont scare me not even a little,I barely get shocked,But CP made me shake at first lol So im glad I was able to support this type of game and hopefully more can be introduced to us from this.
Its kinda like the same reason im buying Hakuoki,I want to support the less known games in hopes they bring more over,Without the"buying" chances are slim of companies taking chances on a less known game or type of game and its such a shame if that happens since alot of these games/VN/what have you are pretty solid and deserve a chance to thrive over here.

While from first impressions (Without hands on experience) I am not all that enthusiastic about Corpse Party going to a point and click adventure game... I can see why they did it. The school building Corpse Party was originally in would have to be completely remodelled to have a second game with sprites in them (Which they can't really do) - otherwise it would just be THE SAME limited number of rooms and while it worked for Corpse Party, it would get tiring if they did a second game.

I completed the game on Friday, I've got every ending bar one (2nd ending 1st chapter!) great game but also an eye opener, the 3D sound with headphones is really effective especially in a certain wrong end during chapter 2 involving a switch lever. You can't rate games via the PSP's PSN store? :/ The Vita is my first Sony handheld and I'm already annoyed by all the downgrades compared to the PS3's PSN store.. I hope they'll update the store a little with today's maintenance.

But you can easily download the Media Go software, just search for it via google. It's a lot more convenient to browse through for games than do it on the PSP/Vita, so I'd also recommend using it for looking for games and rating them.. :)

For all of our standards, it met expectations. They've been warning us that being DD-only, the game had really a really low expectations, so it'd meet the expectations fairly easily, but no one ever mentioned the game one month after the release. If there's one thing XSEED doesn't learn is that they never maintain hype after the release. One day after the release, they're already talking about the next game.

Something I've observed on this forum is that, out of all the current games that have been released are soon to be released, Corpse Party is the most popular. Everytime I'm online, I see at least 10 people viewing the thread, there are so many topics and even more posts. Another thing I have noticed is that the number of posts in the Corpse Party section is higher than Ys and TiTS combined. So it's pretty safe to say it met expectations, and is defiantly many peoples top game from Xseed they want published that actually has a chance of being brought over by them and hasn't been announced yet. (( I can REALLY say this comment with more confidence since Ragnarok just got announced ;D))

I've been thinking the same thing. Because with all the recent teases and announcements, a lot of us had hoped Corpse Party Book of Shadows would be one of the games announced, however, when would be an ideal time roughly to release a horror game? October. So in my hopeful way of thinking, they won't announce anything until we get closer to Halloween, October.

I'm pretty sure most PSP games are compatible with the Vita though that's up to Sony which one are.

Chances are, any PSP game you see on the PSN is 99.9% most likely to be compatible with the Vita. I have yet to run into a PSP game that isn't compatible with my Vita. As a matter of fact, most PSP games actually play over 9000x better than they do on the PSP. If you don't see a game in the Vita PSN store, but see it in the PS3 store, just download it Via the PS3 and transfer it to your Vita via usb. If you don't own a PS3, use sony's media go software and transfer from you computer.

For those that want to get the game directly from the PS Vita, most of the games aren't compatible, and new games aren't an exception, as Hakuoki still isn't downloadable on the Vita's PSN Store.

I was exaggerating... and like poison pointed out, that list still has more compatible than not. It's like 1 incompatible for every 20 compatible according to that list from what is actually tested.

I have wonderful and surprising news, Corpse Party is back to #1! Because of the sale, it has passed Dissidia Duodecim, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Grand Theft Auto and it's the #1 PSP game from October! I'll take a picture soon to post here.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the list on the blog. There is still some hope left in gaming here in the west! And I say some because of the huge fraction of people that call themselves gamers because all they buy and play is Call of Duty... Nonetheless it is pretty refreshing to see niche and smaller-budget games taking the top spot!

So far, we can only judge it from the ratings, but we should get the new PSBlog PSN Charts this week, although I'd be far from surprised if Book of Shadows got the first place.

Whats hilarious is that the really awkward unboxing video I put on youtube for 2U has over 800 views, lol. The only other stuff I've got on my channel is crummy vids that got cut short of some stuff in japan, and crappy videos I took with my ipod of Arcana Heart 3 fights.

If I can get that many views on youtube for a Corpse Party game that hasn't been released in the west, and being an unknown user on youtube, pretty sure that must attest somewhat to the popularity this series has been gaining.

But man oh man is that video embarassing to go back to and watch, haha.

BoS' most sales-crippling problem is that you need to have played the first Corpse Party to understand it. Would it have killed 5pb to add a short story summery? I personally really enjoyed BoS, but this was one of my biggest points of criticism. Another one would be the story structure - switching a continuous, slowly unraveling story for single episodes with little to no connection between each other might not have been the smartest move. Also, the P'n'C gameplay put a lot of people I know off who still bought and played the first game.

As much as it pains me, I can see why even fans of the first game are reluctant to give this one a chance.

Everything that Liquid said is the exact same issues that I had with BoS. As a hardcore CoPa fan, I still bought it and enjoyed it, but it is a very different experience than the original game and the remake. But I have beaten that horse dead in other topics and don't see the merit in repeating myself in yet another thread. I am still sad to see BoS fall off the Top 10 games, but looking at the Top 10, I can understand that the titles shown have more broad appeal to the average American gamer (Final Fantasy games, MonHon, GTA, Mega Man, etc.). I just hope that the game has met the sales expectations that XSEED originally set.

I think that for being a DD-only PSP game in 2013, the expectations were supposed to be small, even if the first game was a big success for the company.
