just before the three screenshots it says Hudson is closing their NA Branch so Ys III wont make it on the NA Playstation Store unless you guys get your hands on it, which i hope happens because Konami is too stupid to try to bring it over
seeing how Hideo Kojima is in control of Castlevania now, I have lost faith in Konami ever making/releasing a 2D game again
Anyone who didnt know, Konami owns Hudson

Japanese PlayStation Store also has Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys (one of the best games of the 16-bit era) and the original Ys I & II on it, also for TG-16. Great games in general -- I've always said that of all the third-party companies that have licensed Falcom games and remade/ported them, Hudson "got" them the best. Other companies would make changes to the originals, thinking they were improving upon them... and Hudson was no different, but Hudson's changes always felt very much in keeping with the spirit of Falcom's own original designs. Playing a Hudson Falcom game was pretty much like playing a Falcom Falcom game -- you could always count on it to be an amazing experience.

Don't see why I couldn't link this here:

I've used them before. They accept PayPal, and send the codes to your email almost instantly. And their prices are actually a little better than what you'll find at places like Play-Asia or NCSX.

So, out of curiosity, why exactly is it that Falcom didn't just do the games themselves? Were they working on something else at the time? Money troubles?

Well, for Ys I-III, Falcom *did* do the games themselves... on PC. Hudson just handled the TG-16 ports.
For Ys IV, though, I have absolutely no idea. And frankly, I doubt even Falcom could answer that question in any great detail at this point. I mean, that was 18 (going on 19) years ago! (:

Hudson did a fantastic job on the Ys games that they took part in. Ys IV: Dawn of Ys is my favorite game from the series. One of the first games I imported for the Turboduo. I'm hoping they eventually update this game for the Ys fans outside of Japan.

I'm not too thrilled about the re-imaging of Ys IV
it looks too much like Ys Seven and less like the original Ys IV
also the PS Vita Ys IV seems to be based on the SNES one
dunno how happy Nintendo will be about that lol

I agree, I would like an updated version of Ys IV: Dawn of Ys. I don't think they should do a full remake like Oath. Maybe do what they did with Ys Chronicles where is was still a lot like the original. I just want a US version of Ys IV: Dawn of Ys.

Yea, very few Falcom games made it over here, It would be nice to see a Ys Compilation like the Super Mario Bros All Stars Collection that Nintendo released on the Wii and the similar Dragon Quest Anniv. Collection with the
NES Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest 1,2 and 3 as well as the SNES Dragon Quest 1/2 and the SNES version of Dragon Quest 3 on the same disc
on the said collection it would be cool to see each version of Ys I to V
PC-88, Sega Master System, TG16, NES, SNES

You forget, though, Dawn of Ys wasn't made by Falcom. Neither was Mask of the Sun. Falcom has NEVER made their own version of Ys IV before. As far as I'm concerned, this will be the first TRUE Ys IV... and undoubtedly the best, since Falcom first-party is always amazing, topping even Hudson's third-party efforts.
I have every confidence that Ys IV Vita is going to be outstanding, and personally can't wait to play it! I too consider Dawn of Ys to be one of the best games in the series, but I'll be SHOCKED if Ys IV Vita isn't 10x better. (:

I agree, didn't think of it that way. Falcom will be able to make a better game then a third party. Not sure if it will be 10 times better than Dawn of Ys...but I think they can do it better. However...even if they make a Ys IV and it is better than Dawn of Ys, I still would eventually like an English version of Dawn of Ys. Even if it's a digital download that is just a translated port. Dawn of Ys is my favorite Ys game, but all 3 of the PSP Ys games(not Ark of Napishtim, that game is terrible on PSP) were very well done and were each almost as good as Dawn of Ys in my opinion.

i dont see why Falcom cant just do a remake of Ys IV instead of completing redoing the battle system
I didn't like the whole party pound on monsters for 5+ minutes thing, that completely ruined Final Fantasy XIII, i would hate to see that happen to a Ys game
not to mention you cant directly control the party in XIII

Yeah, as Peytral is implying, Ys Seven handled the inclusion of party dynamics BEAUTIFULLY. With just the slightest refinement, that battle system would be damned near perfect. I can't wait to see how Falcom improved upon it for Ys IV Vita!

This, I can completely agree with. The English-patched PC-E version is cool and all, but an official VC or PSN release or something would be beyond amazing. Unfortunately, Hudson ultimately owns the rights to the game, so there are a lot of licensing issues involved with doing something like that. If I recall correctly, Konami bought Hudson, no? It might be worth asking Konami to look into a VC or PSN release of Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys. Don't know if it's any more feasible for them than it is for us, but it's worth a shot, right? ;)

And from what little that trailer showed us, and taking into account how much Oath in Felghana improved on Ark of Napishtim's system, that definitely seems to be the case.

I enjoyed the story but Ys begun as a Zelda type game, it should stay that way

Konami is one of the many companies with horrible customer support
They rarely reply to any posts on their OWN forums

Games often have to evolve to improve. I bought Ys Book I & II and Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys right when each was released on the TG-16/PC-Engine, and I'm still a fan of their simple yet well-executed gameplay mechanics today. However, I think there's no question that Ys Seven's gameplay is a step forward for the series, and I'm glad to see that the Ys IV remake will feature an even more refined version of that battle system.
Nowadays, not even Zelda is Zelda.
Exactly. And if they never updated the gameplay mechanics of that series as time went on, it wouldn't be considered relevant today, and the series probably would have died out years ago.
